  • Winters here and its f***in cold...toes are the one part that's really feeling it despite booties. Anyone got any good recommendation on socks that are warm/don't stink/dry quickly/don't cost the earth?

  • don't go with those uniqlo heattech socks. they're not warm enough. i got a pair of the assos winter socks. i'm amazed at how warm they are, considering how thin they are.

  • I haven't tried these but love the idea. No idea how thick they are either. Could make your cycling shoes a bit too tight a fit. Plus the battery issue's a bit unclear.

  • surplus army arctic socks.... £1.50 a pair :D

  • two pairs of thin socks can make a world if difference..

I tend to put a layer of HTFU between the two!

dunno though, the way the weather is at the moment, any ride over an hour you need serious winter kit

  • These are 531.

  • DeFeet socks are the business: the Veloflex of socks. They fit perfectly, they last forever, they look great. My daisy pattern ones have had more compliments than anything else I have ever worn. One pair in summer, two or three in winter and Sealskins for when it's freezing.

  • u guys must be made of money to spend £20 on sealskins :Z

  • I got these winter socks for xmas and they so worth it Gus ;)

Tool of the trade for me. What price dry, warm feet when you're outdoors all day?

  • These are good in summer. If you have the legs.

I like that Rapha kit but it's a bit expensive, no?

  • Santa brought it so no bother...

  • I was joking Ved.

  • leather shoes!

they make a huge difference (leather trainer, not those smart kind of shoes), pair that with winter socks and you're sorted.

ha ha, I know... I didn't want this to turn into another Rapha shit-fight and scupper all the other fine suggestions for Gus from other forumengers :)

  • Good. Santa bought me some of those Rapha socks too. They are nice and warm. As are the Assos ones Teddy recommended.

  • I got these for Christmas. They cover your calf when you roll your jeans up.

  • http://www.armybarmy.co.uk/detail.asp?id=8&productCode=Footwear You can get them for less on ebay.

Pair of normal socks underneath and neoprene overshoes, works in Scotland's sub-zero temperatures.

  • TK Maxx have a great selection of merino rich ski socks -toasty toes, and calf covered :)

I also have some of the Rapha socks, and really like them -dang comfy

  • This looks like an opportuninity for the dreaded GA2G thread-hijack-list-conversion!

    .........or maybe its not. :)

    Psych!

  • Cross-country ski socks, FTW!

  • sealskinz are great, the merino lining means they can be worn for a couple of days without neding to be washed (ie worn for the riding but not all day). nb they are not windproof, so overshoes may also be required

merino socks in general are v good

so basically what has been said already.
