• #3
yep...somewhere in the London Borough of Newham.....according to ony Doyle on Robert Elms on Monday....
-
• #4
may as well be in another county. newham is 'not london'
-
• #5
hmmmm, i am sure that is where the new London Velodrome is going to be......could be wrong in the 3 months i have been out of london they might have changed the boundaries.
Still just though i would give you that info.....i know that London has 6 day races every weekend and this is just another race. -
• #7
ah my mistake....the velopark will be even further out of london, so i am sure none of you will even make the effort to go there!

Leyton is slightly closer than Newham (according to google maps directions thingy). Having spent time in both (lived for a week in one, worked in the other), I'm not all that interested in visiting either.
In any case, bring on the velodrome! At least it's north of the river ;)

I know both areas quite well.
bit of a slog from my place, but I will (and have) crossed seas to get to velodromes, crossing the river and heading east till I fall of the edge of the world is do-able

Did you work it out from London High Street or London Road?

*I don't know why I'm bothering since we all know I'll be there but they could've built it a bit closer or out west where all the cool people live :)

it's a shithole and no mistake. leyton is fucking miles away.
newham isn't so bad but both could do with being further west, and south.

Forum ride to Newham to watch? Who's in?

P.S. Tony Doyle is an arsehole and anything he is involved in probably won't happen.

Parliament Square. Obviously distances are relative.
-
• #19
Pete Mitchell looks a bit rough after his last turbo effort.. who's that young bloke on the left anyway?
-
• #20
that's what happens when Mr Povey trains you, dunno who the kid is, probably a disadvantaged youngster from a newham ghetto
-
• #21
that kid on the left is deffo from some estate over east london - spikey hair, dodgy shellsuit, probably rockin a pair of reebok classics.
Nothing that a bit of discipline and some good honest training would knock out of him, who knows, might even make a half-decent cyclist…

It's not nowhere. It's right on top of the old Eastway Cycle Circuit, which used to the best cycling facility in London.

Ha he's one of my missus' s mates, that's really odd. Never think of people you know actually 'making it'.

Like the Tour of Britain? That happened.
Out of interest, what has he been involved in that didn't happen/won't happen in the future?
I found it rather charming and odd that this event was announced with Prime Ministerial endorsement.

Very true and sadly missed. The Eastway Users' Group are working hard to ensure a decent replacement is put in place. So far it's looking promising.
6th-11th October 2009...Newham, on a temporary velodrome!
