  • Was wondering....

Other that Fixie-Wheeled Pushbike riding, what other "sports" do you do?

I used to skate a lot, but that was mainly because I was crap at other sports / football is boring.

Cycling is fun but dont do it 'properly'. But am thinking it would be awesome to actually be quite fit and fun to be good at something competitive.

Anybody into/good at any sports? Would be interesting to hear your athletic achievements and make for a good thread I think.

  • I was a very promising semi contact and light continuous club level martial artist until being passenger in a car crash killed that dream permenantly, beat several high up people at club level but never got the chance to go national.
    I snowboard if that counts....
I used to play badminton at club level, got bored of all the politics though and now just play socially on occasion.
Right now and for pretty much all of next year my focus is as captain of a tournament paintball team, and the upcoming season, tournament paintball is completely different to normal "play with your mates" paintball. We have had several wins in friendlys against division 1 teams and one against an international div 1 team, however next year will be this teams first full season together. Feel free to visit www.millennium-series.com and check out the videos etc to understand what tournament paintball is all about.

  • ive never been one for team sports. unless im playing with my friends with an element of commoradory im not really interested. but there is no way any of my mates would do anything physical in the name of fun. i really want to start playing tennis, squash, or badminton.

i rarely do anything in any formal competitions these days but my sports are: shooting, fishing, swimming and kayaking. i would say climbing and running but i havnt done that for nearly 2 years. scince having a bike running has become incredably boring. im a bit of a natrual rifleman after spening alot of my childhood doing archery with my dad. until i was about 15 and knew better i wanted to be in the marines. things have changed.

  • sport i was serious about: running. i raced on the track for just over 10 years. might go back to it, still young enough.

sports i've played competitively: cricket, hockey, aussie rules, badminton, indoor soccer, argenball, mixed netball, basketball, drinking.

sports i've played recreationally: golf, wakeboarding, bunch of others.

plus a bit of rolling around places on bikes. and rollapaluza.

  • was brought up in tennis but gave it up early on. my brothers had the potential, not moi. picked up basketball and got pretty good and competative at it. I'm still alright at tennis and got into squash couple of yrs ago. used to run heaps; 10kms to odd half, but stopped cos of a herniated disc. played bit of football and cricket as well

hard to find time to do all. cycling takes loads of time but that's where my focus is atm. wish had time to do it all tho

  • as an adult, it's been all about cycling.

but in my youth I had successful careers in dwarf-throwing, boxing, swimming and angling.

always wanted to play more cricket

  • LGFSS cricket team

  • i used to shoot. would have been a good target shooter if i had bothered to take it seriously, but preferred shooting live things rather than targets. i'll take up shooting seriously if i move back the country.

  • i play badminton.

  • pig shooting

  • Pig shooting is a sport? News to me.

Archery was the only other thing I was remotely good at.

  • fencing is my competitive sport

    cycling and yogafor general fitness

    extreme masturbation ftw

  • cricket ftw, we should make a cricket team!!

  • indoor cricket?

  • Sea/surf Kayaking.

  • indoor cricket?

haha indoor or out im not fussed i love the sport!

  • Rugby
Athletics - sprints, jumps n throws
    American Football

    All competitively

    Snowboarding
    Gym
    Twatting around on bikes

    All non-competitively

    • Only one I do now is the cycling. Age and Family means little time for anything else :(
  • long distance swimenger here.

sucked at all proper school sports. never played football, rugby or cricket but i swam a lot. dicked about with bmx skateboarding and surfing but was crap at all of them. i still swim every couple of days but more for fitness/meditation and just because i enjoy it and enjoying being good at it.

  • haha indoor or out im not fussed i love the sport!

i think indoor is better for the english conditions! for those who haven't played indoor cricket before, it's modified rules, but good fun.

i would be interested in forming a team if we have a few others.

  • fencing is my competitive sport

...and there aren't many (well, 29) better fencers in the country...

  • I used to be a professional footballer.
But I guess you all knew that...

  • and you're in charge of uefa. that's pretty cool.

  • and you're in charge of uefa. that's pretty cool.

    Well, it is for me.
    But "sum peeps hav beef".
    Whatever...

  • I used to play Rugby for my school team many moons ago, not because I was any good at it, just because I hit puberty before most other kids. Could near enough walk the ball from one end of the pitch to the other. Broke someone's leg while tackling them too.

Started racing bikes on road and track last year, recommend trying your local track league out, great fun.
