Yeah. Think I'll go for the first option. I prefer the circular belt idea though. In Black and Grey.

is crest of 'wain' going to be on the other calf?

Haven't done any design work since uni. Reckon a professional would make a better job of it.

Why don't you go to a tattooist then, with some idea what you want and let them work it up for you?

Good point, but I wanted to have a 'finished' design to take along, so that I have time to make sure I'm happy before any needle touches skin. I reckon I'd feel rushed if I went along and they did it on the spot. Kind of like the barber, when you end up with a hairstyle you didn't want.
And I don't want to waste their time being indecisive.

well, big parts of mine were drawn up and traced on, but a lot of it has been done by hand straight to skin. I like the idea of trusting an artist to do the right thing.

my 1st tattoo was on piece of paper from something I had seen and I made some minor alterations- big mistake! .... my second was done by a true artist (Donut!) and was so much more professional- and personal.... when a artist has the rein to be creative you get your input but their professionalism and skill and experience that a non artistic person such as myself would not see... all the aesthetics so to speak... believe me its well worth taking the time to get it professionally designed

I'm planning to get a tattoo after talking about it for years. I've always wanted to get the Kerr Clan crest, as that's my last name. Figured it was bit better than a smurf on my arse. I've found loads of pictures on google, bit they aren't up to scratch to take to a tattooist.

So can people with a bit of design/artistic flare have a go at creating something cool out of the crest please?
I reckon I'll get it on my right calf, and I quite fancy Old English text. Maybe even try and make the sun look kind of like a cog?
