Hit and run, Liverpool Street

Last night i was going south on liverpool street, traffic is stopped at a ped crossing I pull to the front, swing my bike sidways (to make room for the peds) and stop with my right side to the traffic. the light blue car next to me pulls forward, from a stop, and runs into me before the light turns green. I hop on the pave ment and he moves like his is going to pull over then takes off before i can get the plate. all the cars speed off, a land rover stops to see if I am ok, but did not see anything more then me falling down at the front of the traffic que.

hurt ankle, rear wheel, and pride.

I know it's not your style Chris, but in the spirit of the holiday season please request some CCTV footage.
Then please PM me their numberplate so I can piss on their car, smear poo on all the door handles, then epoxy in the keyholes, a banana in the exhaust pipe and then nick all the wheels.
Then I might feel OK about this incident.

You may also like to know, while you're in that area, that the Criminal Justice Unit's Traffic Collision section is at 182 Bishopsgate, 020 7601 2636 (Mon - Fri 1-4pm). Although maybe you can only bother them once you have an incident number, I'm not sure.

Assault with a deadly weapon? driving without due care and attention? failure to stop after an accident?

I think the most interesting point in any case by a cyclist or pedestrian against a driver is that a car IS a lethal weapon. One which to my mind hasn't been fully explored.

When I tried to report the psycho bus driver to the police the other week I was told that a motor vehicle does not count as a weapon in the UK (unlike in the USA).

As such the driver in your case can probably be charged with leaving the scene of an accident, dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention etc.

When you report it to the police and get the cctv footage explain that you want them to take it as far as they can. If you go in demanding he be charged with attempted murder they probably wont be as helpful.

they are your own little mobile fortress, phone booth, disco, kitchen, restaurant, bedroom and office, a shield against responsibility and blame and can be used as a deadly weapon without fear of breaking the law, basically they piss all over guns.
