Chainstay/Clamp-on ss chain tensioners?

  • Has anybody got any experience of this kind of tensioner? I can't use the conventional derraileur hangertype on the build I'm doing for christmas for my dad, so I'm looking at this as a possibility. Ps I have tried a magic gear with half links also.

This type of tensioner seems ideal for me, but I have heard that you can have problems with them.

  • Why can't you use a derailleur type?

I assume the dropout is missing the fitting for the derailleur bolt? If so:

    ??

  • no, it's because it's a bit of a bodge job and the dropouts are too wide, so the hub only fits in if I remove the hanger.
