There should be an option to set your Library location.
-
• #3
yep, that's what i have to do every time the computer is restarted.
I need it to stay set -
• #4
Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab > Change Location on my version of iTunes.
Mine stays set.
Is your shared dir still there every time? Or do you have to reshare it? -

ta.
it has all ben loaded onto itunes, and works fine once i point itunes to the correct location, but i suspect that the router changes the addresses when the computer starts, so itunes goes back to the default location.

If your suspicions are correct,
If your router has "static DHCP" in the configuration webpage it provides you with. You can set that computer/NAS/whatever it is to have a particular network address associated with it.
If your router doesn't you may have to resort to using static addresses for your network (which is a bit wank).

I have given the network hard drive a static ip address, but it still does it.

• #9
have u tried sticking the the computers address and alias in the hosts file?

No.
Please explain. -

Better explaination here

Other than that, if the iTunes service is starting up before networking, it might automatically be failing on boot and defaulting.

Could it be something like the iTunes config file(s) are read-only or get deleted on every boot?
Also, does the itunes library file contain the full paths to your mp3s? I wonder if that makes a difference? I think when I moved my files I copied them to the network drive, deleted everything in itunes and then drag'n'dropped the mp3s into iTunes from their new network location. This would sort out the library.xml thingie with the correct paths. I could be talking bollocks

I did import evrything into an empty itunes from the drive.
What do i have to do to sort out the static addresses for the network? -

Router Voodoo

When you first boot up, before you load iPoo, can you click down into the network drive and find an mp3? ie. is the network drive available? Then, open iToss and try playing.
This way you'll know that the network is kosher before fucking with iTard. -

holy fucking crap.
i just rebooted and itunes is working with the library now locating to the network drive.
WTF? -

Hippy is everywhere, even in your computer - now go to bed!

i'm not well.
Had a ticket sorted and every intention of going, but couldn't face whn i woke up with a head full of snot.I'm not in bed because I'm watch ing the boxing.
I have a network drive with my music set up on the wireless network as 'z' drive.
So, the z:\music is the location of my iTunes library, but everytime I start the computer and iTunes, is goes back to the default C:\ setting. It's a pain in the arse, because every time I want to put some sweet, sweet music on, I have to change it back and update the library.
Can you be my hero (baby), and tell me how to fix it so that it stays on the z:\ location? It's drining me bonkers.
Cheers.
