i think it has no value and i don't think it was or is a brooks. i think you shouldn't give your girlfriend a bike for christmas with that on it.
unless she's into that kind of stuff

Had no plans on giving her that saddle! She loves the look of it, so was looking to replicate it....
Was trying to push her towards a more modern and hopefully comfortable saddle

it looks a bit like a shopper saddle, special BDSM edition - heavily used.

Oh it must be a brooks, surely they're quite known for making plastic saddle, leather? pah! you must be joking!

go spend £50 and get her a proper Brooks B67, I know I did.

Didn't think it was a Brooks - annoying lying Fleabay seller.
Know I should just bite the bullet and buy a new one, but i'm very tight!
Found a Black B66 on Ebay for £40 so might go for that....

go for it, but remember - the brooks moulded to the shape of your arse, a 2nd hand one that already been moulded might be hard to get used to, especially when someone else arses have been on it, not much of a problem really to be honest.
£10 more for a new one might be a better bet, hell you could try and get it cheaper for £45 if you look around on the web.

Brooks made lots of vinyl saddles like that - you often see them on old three-speed / folder bikes.
EDIT - But, as suggested - bin it / freecycle.

The one on Ebay I have my eye on is a new one (Ex Display), so looks like a pretty good deal for £40 delivered!?

The saddle above came off a 1950s dutch ladies bike, which might explain the nasty condition!

As provenrad says, Brooks made more budget saddles in materials other than leather. It's just their leather saddles that they're well known for today. It's quite possible it is a Brooks but it's still tat.
Have just bought my girlfriend a bike for Xmas, and it came with a pretty beaten up sprung saddle, as you can see it used to have a plate on the back of it....
My question is, is there anyway of telling if this is a Brooks? and is there anywhere that will repair it? And does it have any value?
Lots of question, but any advice is appreciated!
