What cog can I use?

  • I've got 47/18 on one side of my flip flop hub, and want more teeth for the other side so I can get a bit more spinny

It's a conversion. The chain length is such that on the 18t the wheel is right at the back of the dropouts. Does anybody know how many more teeth I can add before I run out of dropout. I've got maybe an inch.

    I'm thinking a 20 or 22t. is it possible?

On the same subject, EAI hubs and lockrings fit SJS/SystemEx hubs, right?

  • Each tooth added will move your axle 1/8th inch forward. I go 19t street to 15t track and its 1/2 inch.

EAI are Campy thread lockrings 1.32" x 24 TPI maybe better off with Dura Ace which is ISO standard 1.29" x 24 TPI?

  • DA don't go above 16t
EAI **COGS **will fit most track hubs, sjs/system x included.

DA lockrings also fit those hubs

  • brilliant, cheers.

Time to get spendy. I may go MAD and buy a 20 and a 22. ooh the excess!

    Careful now.

  • Down with that sort of thing.

  • Flipping it will make it a polo bike more than anything by the sounds of your plans.

Edit: Wait wait wait, your running 47-18 and you want MORE spinny? Im running 52-18 on the streets.

  • I'm old and fat and can't get up hills, bridges, or the car park ramps.

  • I'm 62 and skinnyish, but living at the top of a short, steep hill 46-19 has been an ok compromise. That means I spin out on the way down, and struggle on the way up..:-)

  • 62? cor! didn't know we had pensioners on here.... :D

  • Hang on! He has got 3 years yet!!!
