I've heard of bad injuries happening cos of that.am fine, it happened as I was pulling away from a stop. my foot just landed on the floor, i looked down, and there was a crank attached to my foot! it looks like there has been a crack propogating there for a little while (discoloration), but it went unnoticed as i perform approximately zero maintenance on my bike.

haha must have been a bit strange for onlookers to see you walking about with a crank stuck to your foot :)

Had this happen to my crank back in the summer.
It hurt like hell for a bit! A bust crank at 20mph+ while out of the saddle isn't a good combo.

^^ That happened to a mate of mine on his road bike, crushed his balls on the stem and had to walk 5 miles home in the rain.
@OP, looks like it had a fair old crack in it for a bit.
