Full of crustys and treehugers drinking cider and listening to sounds of the rainforest. :)

or really really nosebleed techno hardcore. i had a row with that lot after i really politely asked them to change the music/turn it down last time they plotted up outside the sb
didnt understand noise polution. extremely argumentative folk.

Have been a couple of times, it's very slow! It's a pleasant way to wander about the city but it gets a bit boring. And depending on who turns up can turn into hassle with motorists.
Not been for quite a while but it does look like it's bigger, it's worth going to and drawing your own conlusions. I don't think it's particularly positive for cyclists but I have enjoyed them
-

lets just say i stopped doing them because it gets taken over by certain riders' own political agendas and ceases to promote cycling as a form of transport...
-
• #7
i have always found critical mass a bit embarrassing.

No one is going then! I've never been but thought it might be a nice way to get my missus out on her bike. Aggro motorists, really crap loud music and loads of crustys makes me think otherwise though.

Mate, I'd say go and make your own mind up. And the german markets are on tonight so you can always sack it off and go and drink mulled wine if you don't like it! :)

Might go and hang out at the library for a bit, do a bit of street drinking and see who turns up.... Sometimes it's quite nice just to bump into some of the faces who aren't always at SB and have a chat...I'm not big on the actual ride tho', in fact my opinion of the ride has been pretty much been summed up by all of you lot already....
If anyone fancies swinging by we could always have our own German themed "Fixed Mass" and go for a Glühwein or 2 before we get stuck at the SB for the night?

@ nice chris - embarressed? does she keep trying to touch your front bottom?
@ the rest of you... german markets... you are f**king joking right? its a great idea but how rammed does it get in there??? its bad enough as a ped getting throug... what about street drinking outside harvey nicks/selfridges??? i thought it was about being cliquer than clique
and how good are the shangri-la's???

Off topic but when you leave your bikes outside the Sand Bar are they OK? I doubt I could sink a pint without checking on it a few times. I never know where to leave it when I'm in town at night so usually bottle it and get the tram instead.
-
• #13
bikes INSIDE sandbar - but they might stop that soon... too many bikes in there... and its a serious health and safety risk
my advice would be to get there early and find a spot, or lock it up on the railings opposite. bikes have been jacked from the bike racks by the sugden sports centre and the rack things beside the sb.
better still, dont drink and ride. you can be done for dui ;)
