Haha 'like a sack of shit' :). Well done. You definitely did the right thing.

I can't believe that someone would have a go at a bike, right outside Borders, Bullring steps etc... in what was full view...
Keep on the lookout Ben, but i imagine you spend more time 'on' your bike rather than locking it in town? -

Well done,
You shouldve asked the popo to name a recent time when reporting to them has ended in some kind of action.
Apparently, i should of taken a description, called the police, then observed him from distance.....

Observe him ride off into the sunset, never to be seen again.... great advice from the police there. Surely you were performing a citizens arrest using "necessary force"? What happened to the perp? No doubt they let him go, and wonder why people "take the law into their own hands".

^He was detained, and i have just learnt that he was involved with an attack on an elderly guy in the nearby markets a few days ago. I really hope he gets what he deserves - and the rest of his crew get busted too.....

I used to work at wagamama's, one day I was doing a 12-9 shift and on leaving to get on my bike just outside found it gone. I was more surprised that no one did anything to stop the thieving mother, and the lack of care and surveillance (apprently in the uk there is 1 camera for every 14 people [2003] scary!) from the police.

I was helping my brother shoot part of a film at the bull ring and about 10 security guards ganged up on us in a flash and told us to fuck off. They said theyd been watching us in their many cameras1
Ive noticed to happen to other people too, a bunch of kids were 'rapping' (for real!) outside right at the bottom, they also got moved on straight away.
Yet when any actual crime happens they are totally unhelpful.
I think we should write a letter to the Bull ring and tell them their security is shit and has and anti-helpful attitude.

Is this some sort of veiled insult that I didn't get?
-
• #13
ok, it's the bbc inside out show looking at 'whether the police take bike thefts seriously'. Call Andrew Head on 02380374301
Not involved myself but details from a reliable source. Lemme know how you get on.

Awesome work rhb will get in touch. Cheers.
@ Ben. No insult intended. One of the coppers mentioned that because i live in Digbeth, they couldn't understand why i'd cycle down the road and not walk ("if the bike meant that much to me") for the sake of meeting a few mates for food.

oooooooooooh - wasn't insulted at all, didn't realise that you lived in Digbeth. Now I get it.

Just got back from Steelhouse Lane Cop Shop...
I got caught up with this fella outside Wagamama's last night - hacksaw in hand - having a 'tickle' with my bike. Not one for pleasantries and friendly banter I dropped him like a sack of shit, but got detained by Bullring security and police.
Luckliy, all is sorted and my bike is fine. I was getting some serious shit by the rozzers about taking the law into my own hands. Apparently, i should of taken a description, called the police, then observed him from distance.....Fuck me - has the world gone mad? He was mine... all mine.
you are a true hero and don't let the len convince you otherwise. i've had two attempts: one got a seatpost and saddle and the other got a few digs in the ribs, slap around the chops and part dangled over a bridge. although i feel my karma suffered somewhat, the satisfaction of catching one of the little fucker's in action was worth it...
