Fucking hell. That's dreadful news. Where do you live?
As you say, at least you're all safe. -

sorry to hear that villa, good that you and family are all safe, insurance will cover the effects, and I'm sure Mrs Ru, once over the shock of the burglary will get back into the writing groove, it could give her the basis of a story. Obviously I'm assuming she's writing fiction rather than anything else.

Sorry to hear this, it feels horrible when you get turned over. Make sure the police come and do a thorough dusting for prints, etc., if they haven't already. I know it seems like a long shot, but the guy who broke into our place got arrested based on forensics (well technically he'd already been locked up for something else) and his trial comes up very soon.
The main thing is that you and yours are OK.

Absolutley fuck-all chance of anyone being caught. The locksmith said it had been really busy out our way recently. Coppers came round, but i also went to the station to give some more details and they really didn't know their arse from their elbow. It was such a shambles in there, I am surprised anything ever happens.
Insurance will cover most stuff, I'm sure, but it's just such a shag to sort.
Thanks for your thoughts. -

Shit bad news Mr ru !! :(
I know your Mrs doesn't need to hear this right now, but she should email her writing to herself with a free webmail account like hotmail, regardless of what gets stolen, she can always, in the future, log in and download/cut'n'paste it from the hotmail email.
Hope you are covered by contents insurance.

Sorry to hear! Pretty much the same thing happened to my mate over in Shepherds Bush.
He did have the joy of waking up and chasing them out of the house and down the street.
Hope your insurance covers it!

Wow.
I take back (some of) what I said about the rozzers. They've just nicked some-one with my wife's bank cards. Obviously none of our stuff has been recovered, but it's something.
Now - how do I vote to bring back torture and hanging?
-
• #18
I'll vote for ya!
Go and pay them a visit.. offer crim a reward for return of the laptop.. then give him banknotes soaked in flammable explosive acidic horse piss.. or similar.

I think you know the answer to that.
But please don't. -

Write to the Daily Mail - they'll have another one of their "campaigns".
Good news they've nicked someone.

Great news. Or rather the best outcome from a bad situation. It sucks you got your stuff nicked but hopefully you can treat this is a small victory against the thieves.

Yep - it's crim city on the bad streets of saaaarf london's famous london just now.
Someone else was stopped trying to pass off one of our forged cheques in Streatham Abbey National too.
(that is a forged signature on one of our cheques, rather than them using the cheques we forged)
We were burgled on Sun night, while all the family were asleep upstairs.
On the plus side, all the family are OK. Nothing of major sentimental value was nicked. No bikes were nicked.
On the down-side, all phones, ipod, digital slr, laptop, satnav and car were stolen, along with assorted other stuff. Including 3 kids carseats.
The most painful thing is 6 months of Mrs v-r's writing that was (i know!) not backed up on the laptop.
Just wanted to say that burglars are fucking despicable scum. That's all.
