it´s a very decent wheelset, even if the System EX hubs are cheap, they´re still reliable.
hell, you´re lucky you got that before me, otherwise I´d have gone and get those.

You got a good deal there, wheels always make a big dent in the budget... They should last you for ages...

This is promising. Nothing like a few threads to make you feel good on a Monday morning. Thanks chaps.
Only trouble is I'm churning inside waiting for them now !

solid wheels, i could just build them for myself at that price.
-

It was the £45 build cost per wheel that generated the really high price, not even BLB have the audacity to charge that much.
trevorx you've done well to get them at that price mate, they'll last a good while.
Not everyone could build a wheel themselves dogsballs. Fool that I am paid £12 to condors to replace a miserly 50p spoke last week. I'll have to go to wheel build school.

I have run pretty much that same wheelset for 2 years+ doing non-hipster distances and they are holding up well. I've got one fucked rim at the moment after hitting a rock. No fault of the hardware. The rim is probably due replacement in another year from brake wear.

WTF!!! should've asked someone on here to help at beers. -

£12 is fucking joke. No wonder most people seem to hate them.

cycle surgery charge 50 quid for a wheel build

Just to be devils advocate, why is £12 such a joke?
They're a business based in central London that have all the overheads that a business would have.
I'd expect the price to be around £10-£15 as compatent mechanics will true n tension the wheel while replacing the spoke. Not all wheel builders live in Archway or Hackney with no tax man/rent(boy)/wages to pay;-)
Oh n trevorx yes you've done well.

charging £15 for a puncture is a joke as well.

Yeah probably but so is not knowing how to fix one.

Not quite Douge (£45) and that does include labour + spokes.
You can always look up their charges online or on the shop wall.

Repped. Yeah.. why not charge £12 to fix a puncture if someone can't do it.
Mech has to stop real work to spend 5-10min faffing about with some skanky bike because rider doesn't know what they're doing. £12 seems fine. Fuck it.. £20 coz it's still probably cheaper than a cab. Ha! -

exactly.

cycle surgery charge 50 quid for a wheel build
Jesus fucking Christ, that's a lots! I have wheel built for less than half that!
(and that's in central London as well).
Hi,
I have just purchased these of ebay.
They are mavic open pro's on system ex hubs and I got tyres and tubes too.
I was after a budget build but been looking for a month or two and fixed wheels really hold their value. I have previously used welded up freehubs etc, which have been fine, but this time I wanted 'proper' fixed.
How do these wheels rate ?
Cheers,
Trev.
