Heart Rate Monitor

  • Can anyone reccomend a heart rate monitor, that also works out speed, cadence etc and is mac compatible?

Ideally a watch type one as I want to use it for other sports in addition to cycling.

  • haven't a clue, it's all computers these days..

the one I've got doesn't do speed or owt, it's just a HRM.

    I wouldn't recommend it

  • I use a very simple POLAR for years running / cycling. They do now cycling specific ones. Look out for their W.I.N.D technology (cadence, power, speed) you have to buy extra sensors though or you approach it from the PowerTap side or from the GPS (Gramin Edge).
Mac is a bit of a pain pulling all this data together. Probably best application for doing so is Ascent
To be honest all this data is not helping too much but does produce stunning graphs

  • hippy's got one for sale a couple of years old £130

probably does all you need i think..

  • I've got one of the 725x - i find it too complex, the memory always full and the altimeter ain't that good. I'd buy a small cyclo specific cheaper version that hasn't got altimeter / running functions if i was you.

you might get it even cheaper if you can change the batteries in his powertap, but that is a very competitive price already

  • Polar HRMs are great if you have a PC.

ha! I've done that now.. and then the wiring harness broke.. sigh..
Got new one but have to install it.. double sigh..

  • Garmin monitors are decent.
