it sounds quite pointless to me. like one of those stupid top-gear challenges.

• #4
a typical Max Clifford publicity stunt, which he will be very well paid for...
I wish he'd get back to training and racing, or if he's done with that, do something useful to promote cycling
-
• #5
how is that not promoting cycling?
sorry but get real.
-
• #6
it might promote cycling if he wins......what are the odds?

i agree. and it's a bit of a biased thread title too.

• #8
this is much better.
-
• #9
there's a question mark at the end of it, which makes all the difference?

How does it not promote cycling? Sure it also promotes some F1 plonker but it gets Hoy on a bike in front of a crowed of car lovers. Hopefully, he gives Hamilton a good spanking.

I cannot tell you how much I dislike Hamilton. Cocky son of a bitch, and an undeserving champion this year. Vettel is better. I'd like to see him get massacred by Schumacher as well as Hoy.
Uhh /rant.

This thread is better since I commented in it..

Mate, I hope you're joking. This cocky guy that you talk about is only rich because of his success, but has a winning at all costs mentality, which may come across as being cocky. His hero is his disabled brother, who keeps him very grounded. Champions that feel that winning is their right, tend to be brash. As for cocky.......take a look at Muhammad Ali and Michael Schumacher. No humility there. Huge egos and obviously successful.
C'mon, tell us, what's the REAL reason you don't like Hamilton? Is it because he's a English champion (you seem to want him defeated by Schumacher, and think Vettel is better), or what is it?

Successful sports people are always "cocky" in the eyes of unsuccessful sports people.
Paint me green with envy baby! :0) -

Maybe it's because he's a tax-dodging cock who appeared on Children in Need for people to donate to charity whilst fucking off to Switzerland so he doesn't have to contribute to the social fabric himself?

Back in the day, Afro-American sprinters earned money from performing publicity stunts, such as racing a horse over a short distance, and even a British sprinter raced a train in a 100 meter race along a platform on UK tv some years ago.
Good entertainment.
I think Hoy will win.

He also is not allowed to use the NHS, and has to pay for education for his children if he eventually has any, .........etc etc etc.Taxes allow benefits in Britain, and if he doesn't pay them, he forfeits those benefits.

If this is going to turn into a Those-Against-Hamilton vs GA2G........I'm game.
Ready.........steady..........go.

He's multi-millionaire now - he doesn't NEED the NHS, but he reaped the benefits beforehand.

jimmy_piercy, unlike other sportspeople who join sports from priviledged backgrounds (golf, tennis and motorsport normally require a rich daddy or mummy), Lewis Hamilton became a millionaire through his father's belief in his son's ability, and his father sometimes holding down up to three jobs to make sure his son could race. The Hamilton's aren't landed gentry; Hamilton (senior) is originally from the tiny island of Grenada. Not many rich people there, but lots of nutmegs, fruit and beaches. They were poor, but aren't now. Its called success via hard work.
Unlike Tim Henman (nice bloke that he is); the Hamilton's didn't have family money for expensive coaching.
Get yourself back up to Henman-Hill mate.

A lot of motorsport fans are also bike fans - most of the serious motorbikers i know who do lots of track days are well into their road bikes, and i have a couple of friends who do national level touring car races, and they all use road bike for training
