F E Smith, later Lord Birkenhead and one of England's most eminent jurists, was crossing the Atlantic on a liner. As they pulled into New York Harbour, a fellow traveller pointed out the Statue of Liberty. "In England, we too have statues to our fallen heroes" quipped F E.

You may notice that American men have a strange trait of wearing short sleeved shirts with their suits, particularly inn suummer. This, of ocurse, is not acceptable behaviour in England.
The reason for their peculiar habit? The constitutional right to bare arms (and propensity for misspelling)

There isn't really any difference, both have the same amount of freedom ....it's just that the yanks express their joy of freedom with lots of "whooping", "yeehah's" and "High-5's" whereas we Brits tend to go for the more understated pat on the back and a friendly "good show old chap"

Eh? You can patent software in the EU. It's a bit more difficult in the UK but the Law Lords recently over-ruled a decision made by the UK patent office which should see UK patent policy being brought in line with the rest of Europe;

The US is practically a police state compared to even hard line countries like China and North Korea.
Only Russia comes close to the breathless rate at which the US removes freedom and liberty from it's citizens, and the rate at which the US drags it's citizens off the prison is only accelerating.
By almost all indicators the US is one of the least free countries in the world.

Americans are free to believe that they are free! However their educational system does not give them the tools to realise that they are not.
