That first pic ain't too purdy, main thing is you didn't get mashed up to badly and you've got all the details. Heal up and good luck.

That's very nasty looking. Make sure you get your GP to check you over thoroughly. I had a crash, with a pedestrian who stepped out from behind a transit van, years ago and didn't bother getting checked out. I regret it now as I've still got restricted movement in my right shoulder (which took the brunt of the impact).

I thought it was gonna be a thread about those dudes scooting around with baseball bats trying to clock riders.. kinda good to know it isn't. Kinda bad that this happened. I'm sure that bend will buff out..

seriously man, don't 'take this guy to the cleaners' if it was an accident. when i was hit by a car and broke my first bmx frame i figured the guy was so shook up he didn't need any more punishment. At the most ask for him to buy you a new frame and rear wheel (get you bike running again) but further than that is pretty unnessecary imo. Having said that, this sucks and my first frame was shit so maybe that's why i wasn't pissed off. Losing any nice bike is a fucking pain, just saying the world does not need one more law suit.
I feel your pain and hope you're not injured

Did you read the original posting? Madillness was hit from behind on a clear road. That's no 'accident', that's dangerous riding.

...and its not the scooterer that will pay (directly), it'll be his insurer.

but premium will go up, or he could get dumped, then of course he would be driving with out insurance, and you would be totally fucked.

my bad, anyhow scooter's are like fat chicks...fun to play around with but nothing to brag to your mates about (there you go, a bad joke to make up for it (don't sue))

fuck it! my timing is off. if i had been in there behind will we would have had a math conundrum

Relax Fred, i'm not about to get all heavy on the guy, but if i do end up with problems with my shoulder then I want to be covered , it was the guy at the cop-shop that was getting over excited.
AndyP was just passing on a pointer from his experience. I was pretty lucky, so far, and I'll be happy with enough money to replace my bike to be honest.

instead of which we just get a tongue twister.

So I got his name, address, insurer, Reg Plate and filled all the forms out with the Police at lunchtime today. Going to see my GP tomorrow to check out my shoulder/neck that feels a bit tender.
Does anyone have any tips for how to approach the insurers in order to get money for bike and maybe some injury money, this is the first time an attacker has stopped so a complete novice.
Why are you calling him an attacker ?

I hope you are ok Madillness (with a name like that.... ;)

But aren't all road accidents because someone somewhere has not paid attention?

Dude, see a solicitor and they'll deal with it properly for you and you wont have the stress and bother, which is the last thing you need after a smash like that. Some unions have arrangements with solicitors, which you can take advantage of if you're a member. If the scooter-twat's insurance premiums go up they may be more likely to open their eyes in future.

Not all, no. Speeding isn't 'not paying attention', it's a decision the driver makes. Likewise driving (or riding) drunk, not indicating, not looking in mirrors, riding after dark without lights, councils not repairing road surfaces, etc, all decisions that can lead to 'accidents'.
I finally got hit last night.
Half way home from Soho I was coming up to the lights at Earls Court Road while heading west on High street Ken and having gone round the right hand side of a stationary car waiting to turn left, I filter along in the middle of the empty lane in front of he car, next thing I know, BANG! I hear scraping metal and find myself heading toward the floor.
When I pick myself up a look back to see a guy on a 125cc/250cc scooter with his front wheel jammed into and no on top of my back wheel.
So I got his name, address, insurer, Reg Plate and filled all the forms out with the Police at lunchtime today. Going to see my GP tomorrow to check out my shoulder/neck that feels a bit tender.

Oh, and I got a witness, in my favor.
Thanks all.
