Frame upgrade

Posted on
  • Been riding my conversion for the past 4 years and feel its time upgrade. As I have already upgraded the components I feel the frame is the next step. I would like to spend no more than £500. Any recommendations. I would like something that will last me a long time as this would be a big purchase for me financially.

My initial thoughts are Mercian or Bob Jackson. But I also like the styling of the Condor Lavaro (though it is way out of my price range).

  • Fort Track...

  • These look good.
Available in loads of weird colours, or if you want you can buy the raw frame.
$470 dora including delivery (customs will screw you though)

    Champagne Met.

    Argento Met.

    Orange Sparkle

    Blue Sparkle

    Green Sparkle

    Silver Sparkle

  • why do people only think of bob jackson and mercian when looking for a new frame
there are hundreds of frame builders out there ( some cheap some expensive admittedly maybe bobby j's are the only ones who do frames at a decent price )
go through fixedgeargallery.com / velospace and look at the vast array of bikes out there, keep flicking till you see something you like and then go for it

    +1

theres almost too much choice TBH. I'd try to narrow it down

    Geometry? (track, semi track, road)
    Material?
if steel (lugged, TIG, fillet brazed)

If you are transfering from a previous build, this will narrow it down for you.

If I were to buy a new frame this might tempt me

    Soma rush
with track geometry, and made from TIG welded Tange prestige.

Another +1, IMHO Dog's old Dave Yates is the best looking Fixed Gear bike i've ever seen (saw it in cavendish), supremely tight wheel base, stunning paint job and the fork crown looks awesome. Branch out, get something cool.
