Phil BB with Campag Pista Cranks

  • Had a look in the database, but no one seems to have any notes on this combo. Only thinking for next year if phil do ever release those Carbonyte bearings cause they kick ass.

    Anyway, its is not clear if the correct match is the
    BRS10S 110.5 ISO Symmetrical or the
    BRS10R 110.5 ISO Right + 3mm.

    For standard 42.5 chainline.

    Anyone using one?

    And yes I know they are adjustable, but why adjust when I can buy the correct one in the first place

  • thats for 45mm chainline on goldtec with EAI.

    109mm ISO for normal.

  • Record Pista BB is 111mm for a 42.5 chainline using current/modern Campag Pista cranks, the vintage ones need a 109mm for 42.5.

    So its definatly one of the 110.5 models, just not sure which.

    You would need a 115mm for 45mm chainline on modern Campag Pista cranks.

  • The CampagNOlo Record Pista BB has an asymmetrical spindle. It's not the same as the Centaur.

  • I'm running Record Pista 08 Cranks and Phil BB - BRS10S, gives pretty much the 42.5. I also dropped Phil Wood's and Campy emails to confirm before I bought, as the Campy website seemed to suggest asymetrical.

    No reply from Campy, but as they suggest the same BB as for their road crankset, they may have just cut and pasted across all record cranksets.

    I did get a reply from Phil Wood, and they recommended the symetrical, BRS10S 110.5. So I went with that.

    I've got this setup running against a Phil Wood double-fixed with EAI, and runs smooth and quiet :-)

  • Dude, you're a star. Add yourself to the transmission database so other idiots like me don't have to ask the question again.

  • The CampagNOlo Record Pista BB has an asymmetrical spindle. It's not the same as the Centaur.

    I've got the '08 Pista cranks with a Centaur 111mm BB on mine. Pure sex, if not better.

  • Someone should tell CampagNOlo...

  • all i could find was this;

    102mm suitable for Campagnolo Record and Chorus from 2000 to 2006
    108mm suitable for Miche Primato track cranks
    110.5mm suitable for Campagnolo Veloce, Centaur and Daytona 2000 to 2006 and Campagnolo Record Pista
    but does anyone if you can run these with sugino 75? or a good closed bearing alternative to the phil?

    although i would like phil as;

    "sealed cartridge bearings have the same seals as those used in submersible pump bearings"

  • i just bought 111mm veloce bb to go with pista cranks but the spindle seems to be 3mm longer on the left. does this mean its asymmetrical.its supposed to be symmetrical. pardon my ignorance but this is my first build
