surly imho.

IRO Angus FTW! Straight forks all the way. You might have trouble getting hold of one tho.
Cavendish have both frames, think they only have IRO's in large sizes tho, if they have any at all. -
• #4
Surly with different forks.
-
• #5
And a respray!

yer ive spoke to cavendish they only had really big or really small and im joe average so they said they could order one when they do an order
i just have a thing for the steamroller besides the gastly colour, and the forks arent a major concern but there pretty bad -
• #7
Ride them both first.... then you'll know for sure.
The Surly is heavier - i would back up Object's statement. -
• #8
try brixton cycles or wiggle they have the frame only
-
• #9
ill get a surly steamroller more than likely
its a nice frame
and much easier to get hold of -
• #10
I don't know you can go wrong with either frame. I'm looking for a nice frame might give Cavendish a call.

I don't know how you can go wrong with either frame. I'm looking for a nice frame too might give Cavendish a call.

• #12
how big a frame do you need?
i've got a steamroller frame and fork that i dont use any more...
-
• #13
im 5"11 so i think about 56cm
-
• #14
ah dammit, mines a 53 - thought i could save you some effort....
-
• #15
how tall are you, hows the 53 sit?
-
• #16
i'm 6'1" so it was a bit of a comedy sized bike...
it was more of a stopgap while i was between frames - it was lovely to courier on but i only realised just how limiting its smaller size was when i swapped back to something bigger...
if it was the right size for me i'd still be on it now....100% better than the tinplate iro and hard as fucking nails.IMHO.

yer mate i know what ya mean the surly seams to be the type of frame to just keep on kicking
thanks for all the help guys ! -
• #18
If you need something quickly, go for the Surly, IRO's are lovely but take ages to get on order.
-
• #19
I don't know how you can go wrong with either frame. I'm looking for a nice frame too might give Cavendish a call.
Pardon?
-
• #20
Just so everybody knows.......whats the price range of both frames?
And why choose from only those two?
If you want a light-ish bike, the Surly might be a controversial choice for that purpose.
-
• #21
The surly definitely isn't light but it is bombproof. I've tried to kill mine pretty much every day for the last three years and the bitch is still going.
-
• #22
whats wrong with the forks of the surly???
-
• #23
get a pake, cheaper and still a good frame
-
• #24
Do you already have the bits for a build? If not, an OTP Steamroller will surely be the most cost-effective way to go.

whats wrong with the forks of the surly???
There's nothing, worng with them per se but they do have massive rake. I prefer my bikes a bit tighter in the geometry.
im considering getting a new frame for christmas
what would you pick out of the choices?
