  • I came here from Perth a decade ago today, hell where did all that time go?
On the 30th of October 1998 I raced in Perth's first ever alley-cat and came 3rd.

    http://www.messengers.org/events/events1998/1998.10.30.perth.html (added 03.11.98)

the inaugral wa alleycat was a resounding success, the boys and girls were truly up for it, bless em...

28 started, only 8 finished the course correctly...10 checkpoints, point to point format, only one inury - dislocated shoulder for someone who didnt offically enter - tought shit...

scottie, action and putz, bike it got the phone book primes - $10 each, unfortunately, scottie couldnt get 4 books into his bag...

most spirited racer - putz, bike it, wore a gourgeous blue ballerina's outfit after i foolishly suggested to him that he should race in a tu-tu

people got lost all over perth cbd - its not easy to get lost here... it was absolute mayhem etc etc...

lots of very tired, sweaty but smiley people after the event, we retired to a local drinking establishment, where tales of bravado and stupidity were recounted in great detail

all i've had today is "whens the next one"

    results:

    1. adrian, team fk it/bring**

    1. ben allen, messenger post
    2. john mackessy, t+c
    3. brad, ex - bike it
    4. flavio breazzano, bring
    5. nicko gurdan, dx
    6. rohan miller, dx
    7. pedro, action

What followed was a weekend of saying many goodbyes, debauched partying, being chased by Police, falling out of buildings and being hit by a car(not in that order necessarily).
I knew I wasn't coming back to work the next week and that I was getting out of that small town I had felt trapped in for the previous ten years.

The following Wednesday I was on a plane to Heathrow.

London has been pretty good to me.
I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world from here and to have had a beautiful daughter.

    I just wish I was 22 again.

  • Nostalgia = fail.
