I always find getting chainring bolts tight enough extremely difficult and removing them near impossible, even when I use new steel ones they promptly get wrecked.
**Those tools to hold the back of the chainring bolts are crap & dont work for me.
**
I was wondering if theres something 'better' that exists?I found this on 'bluequinn's blog.
apparantly fashioned by tommy simpsons mechanic, the countersunk serratted edge means you only need an allen key for installation & removal.
Is anything like this more commonly available?
Must be a case of a bad workman blaming his tools since they seem to work for everyone else I know.

my dura-ace steel single chainring bolts have a serrated edge similar to the pic, but more teeth/less severe.
Mind I have no trouble holding them still with my makeshift chainring bolt tool, an old disk brake pad :) -
