Well, I've just got to the 3rd paragraph, and winced.

Do female journalists interviewing sportsmen feeling obliged to go on about how their mate really fancies them? I fucking hope not. It's hardly the right context, is it. The fucking Times, for fuck's sake.

Finished it. Still think the journalist is a shallow prick, brought into even starker contrast by his constant references to the 'depth' and 'rawness' and 'complexity' of Romero's psychology.

She comes out of it a lot better than he does that's for sure.

So Cracknell rowed naked across the Atlantic and Romero has famously posed naked for an advert.

Cracknell rode the Etape on Monday. I heard he did a great time, something around the 6 hour mark. Bastard. :-)

I am content in the knowledge that I am faster than him on the rollers.

This is 2009 isn't it? No mention of the End-to-End on either Cracknell's or Romero's personal sites, no dedicated site, no press launch, no Twitter keeping us up to date. It's supposed be happening in 8 or 9 days' time, what's going on? I think it is doomed to failure, given the class and long distance pedigree of the current record holders, and it looks like the wrong challenge given that Romero could probably have taken the as yet unclaimed women's tandem record with a good female 24h rider, of whom there are several.

I read this and thought 'well he's probably being a bit over-sensitive on this one, no-one writing for a broadsheet would be that much of a cunt in 2009'.

And then I read it.
