Just put a small leather band with press-stud fastening loosely round the hub - that'll keep the dirt from building up.

The only bikes I've seen with bits dangling there on the hubs have hubs that are fookin' dirty!

You want clean hubs so you put a piece of material that gets steadily tattier and covers up the hub around them?
Just rub them down with a cloth every two weeks or so.

When I were a lad in the 1980's riding my Mongoose California, I had some brush like things on the hub that kept them nice and shiny and clean. They I bought some Skyways.
So, my question is, can you still buy these brush things for hubs, and if so, where? Ta.
