Thanks. What annoys me is that I'm so cautious about locking my bike up at night. It was literally left for an hour an a half outside my work between 18:30 and 20:00 with what I thought was a sturdy lock.

not good news dude, but an individual looking frame. eyes will be peeled.

The lock was given to me by a friend. It's not a D-lock, but what I thought was a pretty sturdy chain (Marksman, if that means anything to anyone) although after seeing it in it's cut through state perhaps it's more flimsy than it looks.

Really sorry to hear about your loss.
Was this the chain you meant by marksman?

No it wasn't this lock, perhaps a slightly weaker looking version of this.

Much to my joy and surprise my Holdsworth has been recovered.
I reported it to Tower Hamlet's market officers Martin and Neil yesterday(Details here- http://www.londonfgss.com/thread3948.html) and lo and behold they found it today at Brick Lane market.
They are very nice blokes and asked me to pass on the importance of taking photos and putting a serial number on your bike so that if it does get stolen it really increases the chances of them recovering it.

Good stuff. It's nice to see the old bill do some good for cyclists for once.
Here's hoping flatlander and scott both recovered their bikes today too.

Lucky this time, Jon.
Did they get the scum that stole it? -
• #15
Brilliant. Anyone heard anything about Scot's big link yet?

Something really needs to be done about Brick Lane. It's taking the piss.

other than telling anyone even looking like they might buy a bike that they're looking at stolen bikes (which I do regularly), what do you suggest?

Poor you, my bike has 28 1/4 inch wheels too and was stolen from the ecotort theater in hackney last week, so this post is a request for all our friends in London to keep their eyes out for this bicycle. Fixed gear, mavic rims, orange handlebar tape, blue ellis briggs frame (shipley, yorks) with damage near the front chain ring and single shimano front brake. Email lucy@magnificentrevolution.org if you spot it. See a pic here http://www.magnificentrevolution.org/2008/10/bike-theives-suck/

Mag Rev would have been all:

Apologies for the double post but I'm completely distraught after some c*nt nicked my bike (cut through my lock).
My bike has just been stolen from the corner of Rivington Street and Curtain Road.
It's a light blue holdworth frame with a white selle italia saddle. Single speed with bullhorn handle bars (no tape)
Unfortunately I don't have any decent photos of my bike but I do have this...
I'm going to brick lane market on the off chance it will be there on sunday, but if anyone sees this for sale anywhere please let me know. I'd be really grateful. I loved this bike, built it myself and am absolutely gutted it's been nicked. Thanks.
