Handy tip for all youtubers

to get all videos in better quality, add &fmt=18 to the end of the url, and it will drastically improve sound quality and the image

eg:

YouTube - Great Britain vs Australia - Sidney 2000

... and its different with all videos, that was a bad example to pick as i think it is older.. try it with others!

ah well, thought it was worth sharing. i was pulling the audio off hard to get tracks (freecorder) on youtube and it made a big difference. tynan you need a statue for general internet sharpness..

Yes, it does make a difference if you want to nick a song or two, if you are on a Mac you don't even need to record the audio, just open Safari as your browser - go to the HQ youtube clip (&fmt=18) - hit alt+cmd+A and then double click on the clips name to download a high quality Quicktime (MP4).

That wont happen since it is not a trick, it's actually a manual way of doing something that is offered by youtube. I have no idea why people start spreading the "secret" way to watch youtube videos when they could just say "Hey, youtube have a link for watching stuff in higher quality now!"

Ok, I've found it.. text just to the right at bottom of video. BUT.. it doesn't appear on all vids.

Not necessarily. I read a little bit in the Help and some people reckon YouTube shut off the High Qual link for bandwidth reasons, not just if the file wasn't uploaded in high qual. So, using the tag might force an otherwise 'blocked' high qual version to play.

just oput of interest, how do you post youtueb clips, i feel dumb but if it cut and paste html embed code it doest work and if i use the link or pic links it don't work either, not sure what i'm missing...
