All depends on how much usage over 4 months.
But if it was me I wouldn't be happy to put them down as fair wear and tear.
Best bet, get onto Time direct and ask for their point of view and what they would like to do about it.Good luck!

Spoke to the head office of the bike shop- they said that it might, just possibly, be a manufacturing fault.
However they would have to send the pedals to Time's UK importer to see if they would honour a replacement, which would take around 25/30 working days.
He pointed out that I would have to buy another pair to use during that period- if of course I wanted to be able to use the bike whilst Time deliberated.
I'm now feeling fairly unhappy with my original decision to buy Time pedals.

flog 'em and get the looks
still, I always thought Time made pretty good product...

Time suck balls. Saying that I get about 2 weeks out of a pair of cleats so think yourself lucky.

I'd like to get some Speedplays, the issue is that I don't have the requisite 200 sheets going spare at the moment.
Which makes having to fork out £17 for some new cleats for pedals that I want to replace just that little bit more annoying!
Correction- 165 sheets http://www.cyclesportsuk.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3992

Happy with them so far. But have just noticed that the cleats cost 32 sheets!
Sheet!! :( -

From memory those use a two bolt engagement, so would not be suitable for my roadie style three bolt pattern shoes, or I'd consider them.

Tis true. They're MTB type, as I wanted the convenience of being able to walk :)
Speedplay light action are a lot cheaper than the Zero's and are 3/4 hole?? -

Road shoes aren't made for walking around in.
Buy mtb-type if you actually need to do anything. -

Buy replacement cleats, then get a free spare set from the manufacturer in 25-30 days.
I had some RXS cleats that lasted 2 years before I sold them on (went back to mtb shoes for everything), including some racing, a fair bit of walking, and at least 6000 winter miles.
Sound like a dodgy batch to me, or you dismount funny...

I run SPD's on the fixed for that very reason (referring to Masks post), and I have to admit that I am only commuting on the road bike at the moment because I have not got round to fixing the puncture that I picked up coming back from South Drinks on Monday.
The only walking that I need to be able to do is very limited (normally) when I am riding the road bike, but with one of the little contact points snapped off my ability to walk is now firmly in the "severe inner ear trouble/Yossarian on a bombing run/been drinking meths all week" department.

I suggest bicycle jousting in Greenwich Park as the only way that men of honour can settle this dispute Mr Com.

I must warn you, I'm well versed in the ways of the lance astride my steed 'Rapha'.

It might be that the sole design on specialized shoes is such that it allows the cleat corner guide to flex and snap off - this has happened on 3 pairs of cleats when using similar spesh shoes. Mates who use RXSs on Shimano and Sidi shoes have never had a cleat failure...

cleat shmeat, pedal-foot-nailgun, sorted.

3 pairs RXS cleats (on different Sidis), oldest 19 months, no problem.

I bought a pair of Time RXS pedals about four months ago, plus a pair of Specialized S-Works shoes to use with them.
Got off the bike yesterday and there was a loud snapping noise.
The corner of the left hand cleat had come off, which whilst it does not affect the ability of the cleat to connect to the pedal does mean that my already not fantastic walking ability in the shoes is now laughable.
So I need to get some new cleats.
However, failure after this short space of time seems a little rubbish.
I contacted the shop and they said that it was fair wear and tear, and that I should HTFU, and that a new pair of cleats would be £17 thanks.
What does the great hive mind of LFGSS think- should this be a warrantee issue, or is this sort of failure just a given?
