This video of a one-legged courier in New York is pretty impressive.

Did you hear about the one legged man who got a job in a brewery?
He’s making the hops.

When I used to cycle through Wimbledon on route to work i regulary saw this one legged white chap ~late 40's hopping at a running pace around the common, sometimes on cruches, sometimes a support. about 7 in the morning. he really pushed himself. seeing him always made me pick up my game!
Not seen this fella though i have heard of the one legged black cyclist.. does he ride fixed??
spose that gives him fewer skid spots.. pisser! -

When my crank loosened I rode half a lap of RP then onto a local garage in Putney with one leg - it was fun! Made me think of old-school trackies riding round with one foot on the handlebars + reading the paper.
I did get some funny looks resting one foot behind the head-tube, and had to stop myself from overtaking one particular slow-poke.
I suggest you remove the pedal / crank on your injured side and HTFU as demonstrated by said paralympian. -

spose that gives him fewer skid spots.. pisser!Richard Pettinger - the NY courier - rides fixed (see video link above), but the chap I saw in Regents Park was geared.
As to skid spots, I think I'd try to avoid stopping unnecessarily if I had one leg. But there again, he must have some great methods of getting on and off and stopping etc.

I'm disappointed with this thread. I thought it was going to be about masturbation.

Wow, he really seems hard as nails.
Did you notice he had left hand drive?

Left foot drive...

Whilst I am injured (knee) and trying not to feel terribly, terribly sorry for myself, I just remembered the most impressive thing I've seen on a bike...
It was couple of years ago, training for a duathlon, doing laps around Regents Park and something went >>>woosh>>> past me. Black guy on a racer. OK, he had a nice looking bike and was fit and trim. Trim? As I looked on in admiration I saw the guy had one leg! One (very strong) leg. He was steaming around the outer circle moving one pedal only and going way faster than me and most two-legged cyclists.
Anyone know of this guy?
