Why not use an e-lever? They go on with a bit of WD-40 and effort.

Cos...i have a cross-lever...currently on Nitto courier bars....and i am going to dump those bars...for drops and would prefer to keep the Paul lever...if poss.

Well, it should mount on the shim fine. If you want to mount it somewhere else, you'll have to shim it out.
