'Push Bikes' City council meeting this Thursday

  • Birmingham city council is having a meeting for cycling in Birmingham. All cyclists are welcome, it would be better if there are more, just as a strength in numbers thing. All the info is here:

    http://www.pushbikes.org.uk/events/meet091008.html

I'm considering going, could go for a ride after. Whaddaya think?

  • Damn it I'll be in Jamaica then.

If anyone has the chance to go to this, go, make your voice heard.

  • Damn it I'll be in Jamaica then.

I think that Jamaica beats city council

  • Perhaps this might be of interest to some of you aswell?

    Into BMX / MTB ?

Theres a meeting regarding the development of facilities in the city, especially a BMX track at Perry Park. Heres a message from mark, the bike club manager at wheels park, if anyone wants the flyer I can email it to you.

    Hi all

Hope you are all well and here's some big news for you. There is to be an open meeting called by British Cycling for the formation of a Bike Club to be housed at Perry Park, Perry Barr where an International standard BMX and Mountainbike facility will be built! The meeting will be at the Alexander Stadium, on Monday 20th October 2008 at 7:30pm. (We need all those whom are in favour of the BMX track and Bike Park development to go ahead to attend the meeting and show their support).

The development will be of the highest standards and is exactly what the West Midlands needs for the Olympic sports of BMX and mountain biking. Birmingham City Council are bidding for the 2012 World BMX Championships and this development is part of the legacy from the event. The budget for phase one of the Bike Park is £400,000 for the BMX track, fenceline, cabins and floodlights. Phase two will hopefully include, dirt jumps, technical trails, slopestyle/park obstacles, northshore, trials, skateramps, indoor foam pit, pump track, 4x track and a beginners area including a toddler track / disabled track!

Please please make the time to attend the meeting and spread the word around anyone you know who is interested in cycling. Please forward this email on to your contacts and by all means please email me for the flyer from BC and display it where young people will see it (eg local bike shops / youth centres etc).

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

    Cheers

    Mark Sleigh
    Birmingham Wheels Activities Supervisor
