Can't help you but just thought I would point you in the direction of this article about chroming.
http://www.bikeguide.org/guides/chrome/
. It's aimed at BMX, but most steel bike tubing is fairly closely to aircraft 4130 which it used alot in BMX so it still holds a fair amount of relevance.

Wow, it that flat black with metallic black lettering? looks goood. Though I was thinking on more of a classic look. Two blue bikes in the garage and already building up a another blue bike! I've got to brake the mold with this one though. Colour is one thing, though what about the designs, they will do everything from flames (not a chance) barbers pole and even that candle smoke effect(not really classic)

Yep that was more what I was thinking.....like the colour coded nipples I going for that on a Dave Davey track/path I'm building now.

nah, just black decals on gloss black coat - it's a bit more stealth in the flesh

• #16
for classic i think either cream or pearl would do.
or matt black;

this bob belong to someone here, but the classic simple colour never fail to win if black isn't your thing;

sniff Ithought my paint job was special
It's a stencil metallic black on black enamel.
Reckon it could look good with some other colours
Pearl white metallic on Ivory enamel?

Since I'm keeping the frame now, I might as well flaunt it - Grigio metallic (silvery-grey, kind of sparkly) and Pearl white.
-
• #20
I'm glad you're keeping that, marie.

The flamboyant finish is really nice. I went for flamboyant green (cuz greens me favourit), but was really tempted by flamboyant burgundy. Hows about flamboyant burgundy with pearl panels like Marie's design (loverly frame BTW Marie, glad to hear your keeping it).

Nice to see so many bobs out there. Mine wont be lugged though...possable regret???? it will be 953 so supper light! so for the classic look I was thought square panel on the head tube
-
• #23
you won't regret it since the most common BJ out there are lugged, so your is a bit of a rarity ironically enough!

kind a like the triple panel on your bike marie, the internal TT rear brake looks clean too.
When I went up to Leeds they had loads of brazed bikes too both looked very good, wanted to buy the lot!
Also nice seeing the colors on a bike not a small square sample. Thanks guys, any more ideas gratefully received:)

If its 953 (practicaly stainless steel) cant it just be polished and clear coated (or am i being dense as usual) with some black (maybe yellow, no red, possibly white) bands and decals added.
Hi Guys,
I've got a Bob Jackson custom in build, having left it months to confirm the paint it's come to d day. Struggling to make up my mind too much choice included in the price is any color any design! Looking for the classic look with chrome stays anyone got any inspiration for me? I'm struggling :(
