Is 7.50 too little by the way? I dunno what others charge(d) (if there is anyone else)

how much would a pair of 700c wheels with a flip flop hub cost?
or do i need to get the rims and hubs
cheers -
• #5
Erm, depends on what you want really.
Open pros are usually pretty damn strong, 40 quid for them, halo track hubs are about 40. Condor track hubs are 20 for front and 30 for rear i believe, they're pretty nice. Think they're miche rebranded. Can't get deep vees or anything though.

Nice one. Might take you up on this in a couple of weeks, will pm you when I've sourced enough bits ....
-

Sweet.
Yeah, just want even more experience really... Let me know if you need spokes, i got most sizes of DT Comp double butted, champion, few other types... If not, i can order em in in about 2 days.
-
• #8
Thinking about it... You may need to supply the bits and give me the parts just outside of work, just to make sure they can't get arsey if they're against me doing this...
Might be fine though, as i'll be paying full retail price etc for em...
We'll see.

Not meaning to threadjack, but, I though that too, but I took one apart and it seems quite different from the miche, also the Condor ones take a 'regular' thread (not a campag thread, like the miche) lockring.

Hi Fat Pants.
I'll take you up on the offer if it's still on.
Have PM'd you. -
• #15
Jimbo, skoota, yeah not a problem, i'll just get the spoke lengths and you pay for em?
Crane, yeah, 35 quid mate, i'm a professional wheel builder too, but i'm charging a fraction of the price.
-
• #16
35 is a hell of a lot. Especially seeing as (afaik) Pauls is a backyard set up?
Most shops charge 20 - 25 per build and 50p - 60p for a DB spoke.
I charge 12 for one wheel and 18 for the pair.Fpants... are you sure bikehut are going to be ok with you building wheels on company time for your own pocket? not too many places would let you get away with that... for long.
-
• #17
12 for one, 18 for a pair sounds nice :P New official price?
I'm not going to do it in company time, i'd either come in early or stay late, or do it on lunch or something, thanks for looking out for me though :P Which is why i said it'd take an hour but i've gotta find that hour. Worst comes to the worst, someone needs it, i'll do it at home ready for next day.

HI Fat Pants,
I'm thinking about building up a fixie, but i'm pretty bad when it comes to mechanicals. I've seen your thread about wheel building, but was also wondering what you'd charge to install a headset and bottom bracket?

I wanna re-lace my front wheel Radial. Can you do it?

Bit of a problem, basically, i could lose my job cos of this, so, what i'm gonna say is, i can only build the wheels, spokes will have to be gotten by yourselves unfortunately. Just conflict of interest n stuff, basically it's gotta be as far away from my company as possible, or whoever checks up on these forums might tell me that i'm fired, sorry for inconvenience.
I can still build em, can still get you hubs and rims and spokes in, but i can't buy them myself.
So basically, come to me with an unbuilt wheel and i will build it :P
Rob, couldn't do it i'm afraid, not allowed to use any of works tools for my own gain, we fit them fairly cheaply though, 15ish quid i think. And if you're a courier, or a member of any cycling club, we'll give you 10% off.

I dont wanna do it myself Dogs, hence the question!

hm i can do 10 labour per wheel plus spokes measured and sorted out for 15 quid a wheel sapim silver DB or halo or alpina DB in black.....
Recently built quite a few at work and realise i like sitting down and building wheels, so if anyone wants em built, i'll do em pretty cheap, i got loads of spokes at work i can buy/you can and can even get quite a bit of stuff in for wheels (not a huge amount of track stuff though).
7.50 per wheel? Would usually cost you 25ish at a shop...
Just drop em off somewhere convenient and i'll do em. Usually takes an hour per wheel but i need to find the time so it should hopefully just be next day. Give me some notice though.
(dunno if this has been done before, but i'm bored)
