mmmm, might be tempted. done a little running in my time and i know the crit circuit backwards.
pretty flat, would want something like 48:16 or pretty high. on road bike you average ~26mph for the crits.

ill pencil it in. distance is beginner friendly
-
• #4
2m and 1m is very little running - intense though!
Will have to get cogged up for the bike this I see
I guess after 10 laps I'll know the circuit pretty well, too :0)

Are there any dualathons which are bike and swim only?
I hate running but am pretty good at the other two and really want to do something like this
For triathlons, do you reckon its possible to just blag the running leg if your swimming and cycling is strong. Or is training really needed? -

^^ LOL
Thanks for the advice - yes a 5km run is definitely doable without having run in years.
I would have the cardiovascular strength for it. Its just the pains I get in my hips and shins that really put me off running several years ago and I have not ran since. -

MikeC - Get decent shoes and increase the stress on your body s-l-o-w-l-y - hope you can make the Hillingdon race

i'd be interested in this. it might motivate me to start running properly again.
would love the chance to run down dale in the last 100m. -

Mike check out that sweatshop in Finchley, they'll fit you decent shoes, i got mine for £30. no problems since.
I've got it in the diary.
Looks like they are hitting ~5 min miles running and 2.5m miles on the bike. thats not that bad. -

I will whack a bigger gear on and push at about 26 - 27mph on the bike to make up for my lack of running skills. Do you mean the tri and run shop in East Finchley? They are a bit annoying in there I find. Ultra-competitive roadie type idiot runs the place and seems to look down at me when I ask questions.
Or maybe I am just paranoid

Sweatshop in North Finchley N12

East Finchley shop is Bike and Run
Nick at B&R has a lot of tri knowledge - he has answered many of my idiotic questions with a smile and patience

OK I may have to make an exception
Cheers -
• #20
It's about 200 yards north of Tally Ho - you'll be OK
-
• #21
lol I am joking really.
Are you from Finchley way then ShannonBall? -
• #22
I live just off Tally Ho - so I have the twin delights of Shorter Rochford as my LBS and Sweatshop on my doorstep
-
• #23
Shorter Rochford. I love that shop. I bought my old Diamond Back harry Leary Turbo from there when I was about 12. In fact, all my childhood bikes were from there.
I am in East Finchley, right near tri and run

I'm looking at doing the Hillingdon Duathlon on 9 November. It's 2m run/10 m cycle/1m run. Anyone else up for it. I emailed one of the organisers and, yes, you can use a fixed gear bike. Yey.
http://www.hillingdontriathletes.co.uk/Races_Folder/minetduathlons.htm
No a lot of running and the cycling in on their one-mile enclosed track (10 laps). Anyone know what kind of gearing would suit this course?
