question begs to be asked, why spend a fortune on tyres if you only ever do 10mph?
beyond that slightly unhelpful comment it will make the ride more uncomfortable, steering less responsive and other 'problems'
Prob nothing that major but if you're going to spend that much on tyres spend the time putting them the right way round!

I don't think it matters. But it would scratch at my brain and send me fucking mental. I'd swap them over.

Yeah, I think getting rid of the wondering is a good idea whatever. Ta folks. (I didn't buy them or put them on, they were on when i bought a bike 2nd hand)

you could have half done it in the time it took to write this thread.

swap them, and use the opportunity to check the rimtape and inner tubes.

I'm building my first fixie and I've purchased some white Velocity Deep Vs. I wanna know what tyre size choice is best, 23's or 28s? I live in Sydney and will be mostly riding to work on pretty average quality roads. I weigh nearly 100kgs so I'm thinking 28's might be a little smoother. I don't want the wheels to look bulky though?
Any advice would be appreciated - cheers

conti ultra gatorskins
i had these and changed to specialized roubaix armadillo elites and so wish i hadnt!

25s? The in betweeners choice! Also puncture resistant qualities would be a good choice on your average roads.
-
• #11
Gatorskins 23mm and make sure you buy a track pump and get them pumped up to 100PSI.

Everyone is going to recommend a different tyre, go to your lbs and ask him what he recommends for the Sydney roads. And I weigh 94 kg and ride 23s, so you should be fine with 23s.

Get white ones.

I'm a wiry 70kgs and find some of the Liverpool roads a real bone-shaker on 25s. It's all down to your riding style too, if you want to ride fast you'll enjoy 23s better and be frustrated with 28s.

I've ordered some Gatorskin 25s. Lets see how they go, cheers

Yo,
Does it matter what width a tyre is... by which I mean if you're buying 700's, is the width a personal choice rather than a technical requirement owing to the wheel size (within reason)?
I ask because I need to buy some more tyres, the ones that are on the bike (came with) are like chunky, gripppy, almost MTB/off road tyres, and I need to get some roadies on there...
The current ones are 700x35c, and I think the width is just because of the chunkyness... Is it cool to stcick something like 700x32c on there, or 700xsomething smallerc?
(rims are labelled as 622x13c - does that help?)
Bang. That's me in the firing zone.x

Yes you can go with a smaller tyre

Cool. thanks.
Any recommendations?

Schwalbe Marathon Plus.
If your current rim is running well with 35c tyres you'll likely find that the minimum tyre size you can fit is a 28c otherwise the tyre will be too narrow for the bead to sit in the rim properly. Probably best to check it out with the rim manufacturer.

excellent suggestion.
Can't find the a website or anything though. I'll just not stray too far from the current "working" width. go with something like... 700x32c... or x28c

the rims are 28mm. what size tyre(700x23 ok) and inner tube size should i get. mainly used on the road.
thanks.
Stupid question for easy flames time:
I've got http://activesportskit.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1154 these tyres and have them on the wrong way round, the 22mm on the rear and 23 on the front. Is that likely to make any noticable difference - bearing in mind I don't really get above 10mph anyway? I suppose I should just swap them over but was wondering if it would just be cosmetic for me really, I guess the extra reinforcement should be on the back though.
Ta.
