Hold down the middle button and the menu button to do a soft reset. You might loose your music, you have to do it untill the screen goes blank then the apple logo pops up. Might not work but worth a try.

It's in the manual... (Also, you can't loose your music through a soft reset.)
last generation ipod (30gig video jobby probs 2 years old) just stopped in the middle of a song tonight. no buttons seem to work at all. totally jammed up. brought it home and plugged it back into pc, still nothing. computer not recognising it, it's not even charging. just stuck showing "play" halfway thru the same song with the screen lit up.
it's not locked and i've tried all the buttons and different headphones. it's just stuck.
any ideas?
am i going to need a bigger hammer?
