technically, it's bad buying not bad planning.

It's planning, as the 'buying' is done is advance with a media seller, at least 6 months in advance. The planner then plans which and what goes where.

Apparently it's been ripped down already.
I'm neither planner nor buyer for that shit, but I work with them.

It's definitely bad buying.

That's probably a good thing, maybe someone complained, or just did it.
Reminds me of the pictures of the bus in the 7/7 bombings: the whole top deck was destroyed apart from a bit of an advert for one of our clients' films, that showed a press quote saying: 'Sheer Terror'. It was still visible in all the press pictures. Now that's media planning for ya. Or buying. Or something.

Lets just call it an unfortunate media situation.
It's actually still there as I have just received a phone picture of it.

i noticed that Pacino managed to get his name slightly higher on the poster than De Niro... does this mean he has more hollywood heft?
-
• #19
no its just that poster design for films is about as shit as it gets. Next worst is curry menus.

Nah, he's right, it's all about Hollywood heft. Pacino probably has a clause in his contract saying that his name can only appear to the right of de niro's if it's higher up, or a larger font. Poster designer chose the latter. It's a complicated business, any film poster these days 90% a reflection of a bunch of conflicting legal/contractual clauses, 8% shoddy misquotes from shitty free papers, and 2% design.

It came down to Alphabetical order apparently.

I'm more bothered by the ego-driven baseline shift for PACINO's name.

8% shoddy misquotes from shitty free papers,
Read that as 'shoddy mosquitoes' the first time, which didn't make all that much sense.
