Wanted: Hard Plastic Shoe Inserts/Old Clipless Shoes

Posted on
  • I'm In the mood to convert a pair of Vans skateboard Shoes to the clipless variety..

why ? cos i can't find any shoes that i like on tinternet.. yes, i'm fussy :)

What i need is any old SPD shoe with those hard plastic shoe inserts or if you have the inserts already....

I'm roughly Size 10, but the size is ok between 8-12 by my careful calculations ;)

oh and i'm not expecting anything for free

    Cheers guys

    Dylan

  • you can buy them new from any cycling shoe manufacturer as a spare part,

just ring up the company and say i have xx model of xx shoe, my thread have gone on the sole for the cleats, can you send me some new plates and 'jobs a gooden',

might be a few quid, but thats ok... Then you will need a hard innersole, and you could use pretty much anything you fancy
but the first problem of the cleat worked for me...

  • Those aren't recessed, hope you don't have wooden floorboards.
Egg beater cleats will wear out quite rapidly(like Time ones) if not protected.

The plate and hard plastic insole are two distinct items.

tilover, have you used a hard plastic insole or just bolted the cleats to the plate through the shoes sole?

  • oh ok, the last shoes i had just had a plastic insole that was very stiff and hard(unfortunately i don't have them anymore).
the cleats just clamped onto the hard plastic insole with the small threaded metal bit, that came with the cleats.

i'll chase some companies up tho, see what happens. :)
