Not as disappointed as I was with their last, say, 5 fucking albums but you get me..

Because you posted the link to the threads not to start post. I took this to mean that it's a thread I was not supposed to start so I tried to do what I could to remove it.

Just to clarify, I repped Fruitbat not because of the thread itself or the subject matter, but the first post just said something like "well then?" (apologies if that wasn't the case) and I just didn't find that helpful - I didn't have a clue what you were going on about.

I don't like really obscure in-jokes, the same as I don't like threads that assume prior knowledge, or that you're watching something on TV that second or something. The fact that adoubletap replied "I just saw that too" suggests it was something on TV. I didn't see it, but having been forced by my friends to listen to Metallica from the age of 14-19, I wanted to know what it was all about.

This could have been an interesting thread about Metallica, but it's turned into a complete non-thread because I'm pretty sure everyone's opened it, said 'WTF?' and then buggered off elsewhere. How about you put your original post back up, with a bit more narrative this time, and let the thread do what it was obviously intended to do.

I keep opening this fucking thread up again in case the OP has been reposted, cos I'd be quite interested to know what it was all about.
Still, number of useful threads being posted on here at the moment = low.

The threads intention was to let the forum know how much I liked Metallica at that particular moment in time. all it said was FTW which means 'for the win'.

I then went on to say I was listening to the new album at full volume.

I saw them last night it was actually pretty fucking awesome.
haven't seen them in 15years and haven't really listened to them since after the black albumn.
their new stuff is shit but the old stuff is still amazing.

I heard their recent shows were good, but I saw them a couple of months back for £5... which was nice

The support on this tour was a little poor, Machine Head are shit imo and the sword seem manufactured and a little bereft of ideas

yeah I got hooked up the ticket otherwise wouldn't have gone.
sword I missed and I uh thought Machine head was sword until half way through.
they had one song I thought was amazing until it went on for 10mins.

i like a few old metallica songs for when im in a rah metal mood, but in general i think theyre a bit of a joke. hetfield and the whiney drummer prat are fuckign hilarious dickheads. hetfields singing cracks me up, almost every sentence ends with a wraaaghhh...ah! and he puts on that metal voice. "im going to the shop to get some rizla...wraaaghhh! then i might have a cigarette and some coffeee..wraaaghhh! then i might listen to some metallica cause my music is so awsum...wraaaghhh. wraaaghhh..ah!."

i saw them at reading not long ago and spent most of it laughing at them, they just try too hard to be all metal and it just comes across as looking and sounding ridiculous. im not really into metal so theyre music doesnt really appeal to me, i just find the whole thing quite amusing.

they tore the fuck out of download a couple of years back.

i went to download 2 years ago for free, it was fun even though i didnt know hardly any of the music. ive never seen so many geeky teenage boys in iron maiden t shirts. i wanted to walk around with a sign saying maiden suck, but i think i would actually have got lynched by a mob if i had done that.

not that all festivals arnt victim to style cliches but download it was rife. everyone was going crazy but looked like scragly ill metal cliches. there was alot of macho posturing going on from people who didnt look capable of actually following through. even still the mini riots were pretty rough.

download is poo, definitely.
