Spinergy rev-X 8 speed

  • i have a pair of spinergy rev-X wheels.. is it posebole to change the 8 speed in to a track wheel?

if it is can you tell me how!?

  • search surly fixxer

  • THNX!!

    close topic :)

  • Ok, so I have an 8 speed rear wheel which I too am trying to convert.

I don't know if it is the older or newer type freehub yet (ie: whether the Surly fixxer will work), but I'm trying to remove the freehub to find out.

So far I have removed the cassette, the cone and locknut, leaving me with the first picture.

The other side is the other picture.

I think in order to get a 10mm allen key into the freehub I have to remove the axle, but I have no idea how to do this.. reading around on the internet doesn't give me anything certain, but I have a feeling I'm going to need to use brute force (maybe a hammer) to just knock the axle out. Is that right?

Any other useful tips for this conversion?

  • it looks like a classic shimano freehub (i could be wrong). if you look on the net for changing a freehub from campag to shimano or vice versa you can find pics. i remember when i converted my mavic cosmic carbones, there is an allen fitting inside the hollow of the axle, so you use one on each end and it undoes in the middle (like some the current BB's, is it campag). failing that, try to get hold of a pin spanner and remove the section on freehub side. definitely think its doable although still think you should just get a disc rear, as i said the other night.

  • Is it not just possible to fit a single speed cog adapter to the freewheel. Spinergy is something I have been thinking of as well..

  • You can fit a 'Single Speed' adaptor like this one:

  • you hipster matt :P

  • hi, have a campy spinergy rev x, those the free hub body mount are the same for shimano and campy free hub body? thanks for halp

  • Why are you dredging random Spinergy threads?

  • Hi, is that answer for my question?

    thanks for halp

  • wrong answer - he he

Good answer is - all rear spinergys rev-x are shimano f.h. body compatible only.
