also, can anyone recomend them? im on a budget but want to balance it with quality...

the ones I saw looked shit.
the bearings are probably cartridge, usual generic jobbies like all the others. nothing inherently wrong with that. but the hub body machining and threads (the expensive bit of a hub to replace) looked like it had been fashioned by a lobotomized stoat with rickets

i have them.
seem all good so far :)p.s anyone know who makes ti nuts for track type threaded axles?

Just got my Halo hubs, been waiting for the shipment with the purple ones in for months, the first ship caught fire U& had to return to the far east apparently! Glad they're finally here!

Anodising crappy hub threads is bad idea.
Never seen a System X look as shit as those and these.

OK i'm pretty sure that they're cartidge bearings. If you're really desperate, call Ison Distribution up on a weekday and ask for Maz.
I have the black fixed/fixed one and it seems fine to me.

Yeah, they're definetly cartridge bearings!

why would I pay for an inferior hubs when for similar money I could get a pair of Miche track hubs?

+1
These are not premium hubs just because they're a pretty colour and have a big logo.

I ended up buying a system ex hub and lacing it to the R500 rim i already had. been absolutely fine so far. only cost me £30 for the hub and build too.

Nothing wrong with the System EX/Formula/etc. hubs, they're in my opinion the best budget hubs money can buy.
the halo's probably not.

the halo hubs are smooth as hell

the halo hubs are smooth as hell
Never though hell would be that smooth, rough as hell I can understand :-)
They will be smooth as that is just down to the bearings. What I have found with the cheaper hubs is that the thread quality and tolerances (lock ring butting up against sprocket) can be lower.
If fitting and forgetting then fine but may not do so well if changing cogs about now and again. -

Try Probolt if you're after 10mm, not sure about 3/8 or 9.5mm though. What your after is the flanged nuts.

Plus one.
I'd rather drop coin on a headset, where the difference is noticeable and the quality could have an affect on the frame itself, before a high end hub. System Ex/Ambrosio/SJS/Formula/etc. work fine for me.
That being said, if I wasn't poor, I would be running better hubs.
Hate to start a topic for this but I've really searched all over the internet for this, e-mailed places that sell them and still haven't gotten an answer.
What kind of bearings do Halo Track Hubs use? They are stated as having 'japanese sealed bearings' but sealed can sometimes mean looseball with a rubber seal.
Someone on here must have some or know someone who has them!?
