Happened right outside Cycle Surgery, it was an old lady that was hit by a cement mixer and died pretty much immediatley.
As far as I know none of the guys in the shop witnessed what happened just the aftermath.Very sad.

There was a big accident on Holloway road today. Blocked from Highbury Islington to about where the university is. Tent in the middle of the road and a massive truck on the side. I asked the copper and he said it was a cyclist run over. Apparently dead. Quite disturbing and sad. Always trucks. I came home around 9pm and thought it just happened. But was told that the road was already closed around 6pm. Does anyone know more?
Someone at work lives off Holloway Road and she said it was a mother and daughter that died. Well, that's what she heard anyway. Either way it's really awful news.

So was it really a cycle accident if it was a mother and daughter? Or something else? As an avid cycler who rides that way everyday, I'm totally freaked out and want to know what happened but can't seem to find anything.

Bike accident one lady and one truck involved.
Matt, we can sort a lock if needed.

I cycled past the police cordon at 18:30 and saw a crushed bike under the wheels of an HGV. Given the number of police it must have been a fatality. A lady beside me - who did not witness the accident - said it was the fault of cyclists going through red lights!

I live close by, I can even look out my window and see the place of the incident. I had a chat with one of the police dudettes yesterday and they reckon the old lady was on her bike and kinda drifted towards the truck and hit her head on the front side of the vehicule than fell down flat on the ground.
May she rest in peace.

WTF? you couldn't make this suff up.
She probably deliberately rode under the truck.
Sad news for someone to die, but even sadder when you hear that cyclists' deaths are so inconsequential in London that (1) there's NO media coverage of this - it's not a significant event, and (2) that a convenient* story can be put out that means that it's no-ones fault - not the driver, not the road planner, not the public.
- requires less paperwork, less thinking.

sad news. the guy coming to my place got caught up on this.
holloway road given how busy it is, isn't usually that bad for cyclist. although that big section near the park where there is the big crossing is weird.
7 sisters was closed off just down from holloway on sun, looked like a stabbing. wasn't there also a stabbing near cycle surgery a couple months back?

matt, we should really do one for that lady that got killed down in kentish town, they've finished the road works.

'The kenitsh town lady'. Was that out the front of the bullet bar? I was there soon after the accident. I thought she'd just banged up her leg?
What a shame, that intersection really is quite dangerous.

The Lady had NOT run a red light. There is a fundamental flaw with the Fieldway cresent junction with where the trafic lights are placed on the Holloway Road and the delay they have..
