Very true. And with some volunteers we can put the boards from the tournament up around brick lane...

Hmmm... I may have a box of U-bolts but I'm not sure if/how they'll work. Other than that, cable ties? We'll need to paint over the LONDON CITY phone number before using them though.

we have played with the heavier white balls since the beginning...they're a vital aspect to the game.if we were to change to the softer balls it would ruin the game.

The only bonus to the field hockey balls is that satisfying 'WHACK' you get when you really smack the ball.

The dents and hits I don't mind, but after I read what Kevin
had to say about the top-spin, I started to really notice that balls didn't stay out when you got a mallet on them.I thought that the white ball that Yorgo uses it waaaay too light, but I am not sure if I have played with a street ball.

Big downfall of the street ball, you can't see it when it starts to get dark! We played all evening with it until we couldn't see it anymore then switched to the white field ball. It was practically glowing!
Anyways, after getting about 7-8 straight games in with the new one, I really really like it more now.

^^^ plus one to that.
The red ball is more nimble and forces you to play a quicker game. Its lighter and therefore requires you to be a bit more lighter with yer mallet... ie very slight dribbling. But for you big hitters can be more accurate. less power more precision.
I like it!
ps if you get in the way its a lot less painful.
pps downside... any sort of crap on the court and it'll bobble a lot, so court has to be in good ish nick.

I hated the ball for the first few games, but then we went for a quiet pint and sorted out our differences. Now I'm in awe.
Pisstaking aside, it makes for a very different game but it's damned nice to play with as it forces the skill levels up.

are these 'new' balls available to buy in this country? i think that unless they are readily available we shouldn't switch yet. perfectly happy to try but, if there is only one...
Opinions appreciated on the bigger, heavier field hockey ball that has been used for the past year and the new smaller, lighter, faster street hockey ball that I'm pushing...
