geek fail, you can hear the clicking of the freewheel, just a bit rough is why the cranks would spin.
Now me for that matter, I instantly reply to spot this at 2.30am
thats a geek win!

yeah i noticed a couple of seconds later the clicking but couldnt be assed to fix the post
i have now though
3.23am
oh dear

no, there's a good chance it is a fixed gear, just with an over-enthusiastic sound FX department figuring you need to hear a click-click of a freewheel to associate the right sound aurally with the close up on screen.
I'm up at 5.10 am replying - do I win geek points?

more importantly.. why on earth were you watching this?
im up at 1.55pm replying to this.. oh wait

yes dale, because you never see tugs on singlespeeds do you? or any bike where the chain tension is determined by the rear axle's position.

i doubt that the guy is downhilling you old muppet! back to reading the sun.
-
• #13
The clicking does sound like it's added, but there is also a second bike in the scene, you see the front wheel at 2m 22s.
God this is sad!

yeah, but to be pedantic, old and cheap freewheels with stiff and dirty pawls bind at low inertia, and very often will cause the cranks to rotate when pushed along with no weight on the cranks.

Yes. This happens on Bromptons when the inner bearings start to fail.

you really are a no-nothing twat aren't you?
about seemingly everything you comment upon.
road singlespeeds have had tugs for fucking ages, as have BMX's. Downhill bikes, in almost every situation have rear derailiers.
I haven't read a newspaper for several years, and if I did, it's hardly likely to be The Sun!

^^ haha, fnckin' A, can't rep you sorry.
and then you couldn't get free wheels that small. and yes i did think about dirty stiff (oo err) freewheels

And i thought i was being geeky when i noticed a brakeless guy in the opening credits to the latest mike leigh film the other day :(
-

I'd never even heard of this film, but there's something familiar about it
-
• #20
hey guys, i saw a fixie!!!
-
• #21
if there were a freewheel, it would not click if the cranks were rolling forward regardless, even if they were turning due to rough ground or friction in the bearings or whatever. certainly not that fast anyway. just a thought.
