  • My girlfirend has been going on at me to wear a helmet. I have started to, to keep her quiet.

A guy at her work just had a crash recently when he got hit while on his bike.

He's not looking too clever here...

  • That's fucking horrific. I too wear a helmet mainly to keep the missus happy. After reading about everyone's misfortunes on here though makes me think it's not such a bad move. Where's thatshitsfuckedup when you need him?

  • mmm just what i needed to look at when eating!

  • oh jesus dougie that is awwwwful. i can't even tell what i'm looking at, and no, i don't want to know...

  • thats not too bad... metal pate on later..there are worst cases.. and so wear your helmet!!!

  • what happened?

  • Smells like cycling plus in here.

  • fracture skull... and someone using a metal thing to lift up the bone to check is there is any brusing or bleeding underneath

  • Wow scary, report to Bike Radar immediately.

  • if the crash is that bad, wearing a helmet aint going to help that much!

  • is this a random picture of an operation?

  • is this a random picture of an operation?

No. It is genuine. I got the email from the bloke himself, trying to gross out his female workmates. He seems quite good humoured about it all considering.

  • Very nasty, but the fact remains, If i wear a helmet i can't rock my hipster trucker cap.

I am not sure.. I have broken a few helmets ..and the worst has been a concussion. I guess I just don't want to know what would happen if I am not wearing one...

Glad to hear he is ok.
They should send him pictures of women giving birth, it is even worse.

  • holy shitbags batman. that makes me wanna vom.

    maybe thats the neurons misfiring.

  • im getting a helmet! TODAY.

  • the few times I have fallen my body has taken the impact I think this comes from years of skateboarding which teaches you how to fall

  • if the crash is that bad, wearing a helmet aint going to help that much!

I've just come back from seeing a mate of mine who had an accident while training with his team in Richmond Park 2 years ago.

The accident happened when he collided with the guy in front and fell off his bike and into oncoming traffic.

His head (wearing a helmet I may add) took the full force of a car travelling at 30mph, severing the nerves in the right hand side of his brain.

He was in a coma for 2 months, is now paralysed on his left side, and needs 24 hour care.

If it wasn't for his helmet he would now be dead. And although he is rebuilding his life and will be seriously disabled for the rest of it. He is still very much the same person inside, and is very thankful to be given another chance.

When I first saw him in hospital I wasn't sure if - put in the same situation - I would have rather have been killed then go through what he has. But the more I see him recover the more I am glad a helmet saved his life.

Saying that - I only wear one while commuting, which he keeps giving me grief for.

  • I know what you mean as i played street hockey for years and would stack all the time but if you fall backwards your fucked.
