Hot Foot, Numbness, Morton's Neuroma.... - Bike Forums
sorry if this a little dull (or as the wife says 'boring')

  • That's one astute woman you've got yourself.

  • She's got the brains and the looks. I've got the money though.

  • went to a podiatrist today as have a 'hot foot' and pain for the last three weeks, but before this have suffered with a numb foot for ages, and it looks very much like Mortons Neuroma - fuck, really don't want cortisone injections, or worse, surgery, but it's intensely painful

    that link is useful

  • I had Morton's Neuroma, the Neuroma has now been incinerated via the pathology lab.

Get it cut out- don't fuck around with injections.

  • dammit - did they go in via top or bottom, and how long were you out of action?

  • were you just getting numb foot on the bike, or off it too?

  • In through the top, about two weeks, three before my foot would fit in my Sidi again.

I did not have numbness, just sudden bolts of pain.

Those I do not miss, I am missing some feeling now, but I only notice in situations like this when I think about it.

  • I've just got a new bike and now my feet hurt. It's a kind of numb ache towards the outside of the ball of the foot.
I'm using the same shoes and pedals (SPD) as previously, so not sure what has changed... Q factor maybe? The old bike is a mountain bike and this is a road bike.
Will moving the cleats around sort this out? If not what can I do?

  • different position on the bike would suggest a different cleat position id guess

  • Yes and it is a drastically different position at that! I just can't work out how to move them/if it's something else (seat height?) or if I just need to get used to it...

  • i have had agonising foot pain the last few days, to the point of almost vomiting, right at the base of the toes, off to the GP to see what can be done about this, hoping it's not Mortons Neuroma, symptoms sound similar to Gout but there is no swelling.

No pain when cycling just walking

  • I've been dealing with occasional foot pain (across the top of the front my right foot, towards the inside) for a few years. It'd flare up once every 3-4 months and settle down again after a few days, but was completely normal most of the time and I've never been able to determine a pattern to it. Of course whenever I managed to get an appointment with a physio or GP the symptoms had pretty much gone. Had x-rays and blood tests (for gout) neither of which showed anything.

It's recently been more persistent (not always painful, but noticeable more of the time) so after seeing my GP again had an MRI scan last weekend. Waiting to hear what the results of that are. Was aware of the Morton's Neuroma thing, reading up on it more it does sound very similar to what I'm suffering.
