as aposed to doing skids with your front wheel?

then don't go brakeless, it's that simple.
If I were you thought, I'd just put a front brake, leave it at that, and then learn to master skid (rear brake is useless on fixed, so either swap it over or removed it)
I wanted to go brakeless but I have to tell myself that I'm not quite experience yet to go brakeless, I'm more discourage by going brakeless because I find it somewhat quicker with a brake (shorter stopping distance for instance), useful for the long run between Clerkenwell and Wimbledon.

Used to do front wheel skids when i was a kid always always fell off though.
Have a front brake at the moment, just like the clean lines of having none at all.

If you discover that the majority ride brakless will you ditch the brake even though you're aware that you don't yet have the skills to control your speed with your legs?

You really need to be asking yourself 'Why you want to go brakeless'. If it is to be cool or for aesthetics, then neither you, nor your bike will look so cool when you are lieing in a bloodied heap on the floor when a car pulls out in front of you. Basically, you can't stop in an emergencies. Brakeless should be for tracks only where it would be pretty surprising if a car pulled out in front of you!

Moot, think about safety first, I like the clean line as well but I stopped there due to safety on my part (plus having flat pedals is a bit dangerous when going brakeless I think some would agree here).

Object set up a poll for people to show gear inches brakes/brakeless
better control with the back wheel but if your legs are shot a brake is handy to scrub some speed off quickly. you also have to make sure your bike is well maintained and strong any issues with the headset or drive chain and a quick down hill will sort it. its worth noting you have clean lines on a wheelchair to

If you have a brake, why would you want to remove it? Brakes are cheap yet incredibly powerful tools, Ive never had any problem pedal braking but Ive run 1 brake or nobrake setups out of desperation, now that I have two brakes I use them.
Skidding a rear wheel is not a good way to stop a bike.
If your run clipless especially, its true that youll never feel the need to use a rear brake. Still no harm in leaving it on if you have it, could save your face in a chain snap situation.

to save a little bit of weight? beside forcing myself to learn how to skid, slowly making my bike a little bit lighter, even my a tiny margin helped.
