That'll be a Harry Hall, Manchester legend who died last year. Was Tom Simpson's mechanic - the man who 'put him back on his bike' on Mont Ventoux...

That doesn't surprise me, he supplied a lot of Continental-based British pros in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Are there mudguard eyes front and rear on that Giant?
What are the tyre clearances like (including with hypothetical mudguards)?
What's the tubing?
Is that the slackest front end ever, or an optical illusion?

my God the Colnago road bike is fucking gorgeous, argh I wish I have the cash for it, annoying being jobless for a whileand on the DLA.

Whoah, the Colnago is beautiful...are the tyres on it tubs or clinchers? I'll drop you a pm, I'd like to come and check it out if I may?

They are clinchers but they have that old skool tubular look.

No it's still up for grabs actually.

no it really is that slack :D
Ive seen it. But the slackness is ideal for touring and such, its actually an audax bike or something.

Thanks for the info, seeing as Jos cruelly ignored my questions :p
-
• #21
dude I would never ignore you on purpose !
It does have eyelets for mudguards and there should be enough clearence to install them too.
Tubing is some of Giant's own stuff.Front end is not as slack as it looks in the pictures. That was a combination of shadow and low light I think....
Anyway it's a nice commuter / beater and fully checked. Just nothing to fancy.

I really hope I got the job tomorrow, so I can go about purchasing that beautiful Colnago.

^Good luck Ed - it's a lovely looking bike. But mind the puppies...^

Thanks, Jos. If I was in a position to buy a bike, I'd consider it. It'd be perfect for a full mudguarded, possibly racked, 25/28c, fixed, audaxy, not too STEAL ME!, commuter, especially when I no longer need to do the childseat thing.
But for the immediate future, I think I'll have to stick with this:

last thing I ever want to do, any peugeot or summat it's fine, but with that colango, keeping it as original as it should is exactly my intention.
off to the job interview now.
