  • Argh cut throught this tool steel 16mm od

  • It sort of looks like it might brake if you nudged it.

  • It looks hollow.

  • solid

  • its looks easier and safer to just buy one

  • Were you to go ahead with this, would you do a double or a single bearing lock?

  • why easier and wahy safer, im an engineer it what we do is make stuff.

  • kyrptonite have 30 or so years of expert experiance, no?

  • Were you to go ahead with this, would you do a double or a single bearing lock?
bearings. pah! i got a 10 mm hardend steel rod and i am going to mount in a sqare block turned down and then add a big ass padlock, maybe.

  • kyrptonite have 30 or so years of expert experiance, no?
indeed but they charge 50 notes for a mini.

  • Brucy... i said this before you a bit nuts aren't you?

Wouldn't it be stronger to bend it?

Looking forward to seeing your creation.

  • well. im not an engineer.. but is the steel ur using the same stuff found in a kyrpoinite or the like? and those welds dont look as sturdy as a smooth curve?

cos then it doesnt matter how strong the steel is, only how strong the welds are

  • bearings. pah! i got a 10 mm hardend steel rod and i am going to mount in a sqare block turned down and then add a big ass padlock, maybe.

arnt padlocks rather easy to break?

  • why easier and wahy safer, im an engineer it what we do is make stuff.

Wouldnt it have been a lot easier to bend the steel rod?

Also is it hardened at all? Regular mild steel is piss easy to saw through.

What locking mechanism are you using, perhaps it wouldve been cheaper to get an existing lock and shortened the bar?

Just some thoughts, making stuff is cool.

  • haha i am brazing up some high rise riser bars hehe already got my product name, "high rise, gives the rise you need!"

  • Or how strong the padlock is, making it as weak as every chain and lock combo out there.

  • Wouldnt it have been a lot easier to bend the piece of metal?

    big PADLOCK!

  • nice one, are you going to treat the metal? just a thought wouldnt it have been easier to bend the metal into a U ?

its silver steel to hard core

  • Ah I see!

    Right you are.

  • "high rise, gives the rise you need!"

    Hahahahahahaha!

    logs out

  • Did you v out at the welding points? No offense but your welding looks riddles with holes.

  • Update the thread when you finished, I cant see how that padlock will attach to a mini-d?

Also, make sure you get the newest version of that padlock as the originals are pretty easy to pick.
