  • hi, my forks, seatpost and saddle were stolen on monday night on buckingham street in dalston/de beauvoir. sucks cos i was actually outside having a chat with some friends and the fucker did that 5 meters away from us. we caught him but couldnt catch him.
i thought the saddle might go at some point but the forks!! i still cant believe this.
anyway, i thought maybe i could post a picture of my bike on this and if anyone sees forks like this around and they could let me know that'd be great. i dont know the make or whatever but i thought they were really pretty.
    thanks very much, sandra.

  • it a bit hard to spot a chrome fork that belong to you, I mean half the old road bike/fixed gear bike have chrome fork!

best bet to go to BLB and ask them if anyone came in trying to sell the fork, otherwise just buy another one, it shouldn't cost much, even if temporary.

  • Sorry to hear of your loss.

    GET YOURSELF A PITLOCK SYSTEM

  • there's a bike shop near dalston junction which is run by a well known bike thief. go in and have a look.

  • my po po friends told me that nowadays bike thief steal to order....

this is the palece where 90% of the stolen things in Dalston end up

  • Know what I mean...
There's really no need to be so harsh.

    • Guess it's harder to be nice
  • bad luck velo 75, quite amazed they stole the forks! Did they leave the front wheel? What about the brake caliper? did they cut the brake cable? Were you locked up by the big estate on the corner of kingsland road?

  • Boo Hoo you cunt

    wtf?

that's lame. I suspect you've never had something you care about stolen from this.

  • ^Don't feed the troll^
    ;-)

  • oh that's what it is is it?

I thought it was an unfeeling wanker.

  • This is the bit I don't get:

"we caught him but couldnt catch him"

So you got hold of him, then you let him go?

  • getting desperate to strip bits of that! OMG!

my skinny jeans were too tight and i couldn't see him as my hair was in my eyes.

  • true that had me confused, specially late last night when the post appeared. i chose to figure a language barrier.

  • =(

I would be livid if someone robbed stuff of my bike as I suspect most folks here would to.

but I have to say I am with Dogs on this, no offence velo dude but when bike theives in NYC part a bike on the street its cos the bits are rare ..a friend had his Campy pedals taken once. Maybe I need some re-education on forks but are those exceptional?
In any case I am sad for you... and for all of us if theives in Dalston / Hackney have caught on to the tricks used in NYC then we **all **need to be more vigilant.

  • saw him but couldn't physically apprehend him?

  • hold on are we saying velo75 is a troll here?

dogs you're being a bit harsh mate, a bike is a bike.

  • my skinny jeans were too tight and i couldn't see him as my hair was in my eyes.

Hahaha! Now, now Dale. Wake up a bit grumpy this morning?

just saying what you were thinking ;)

  • yeah but he didn't actually say it..

    shakes head despondantly

  • I hope you find the fucker who stole them, you do have my sympathy.

DaveH - where is this dodgy shop in Dalston?

  • Is it Barklays for Bikes opposite Oxfam? I always though the young chubby guy who works there was quite nice - will always lend you tools and stuff.

  • I always thought that shop looked dodgy-as. But I went in there a couple of moths back, and it's mainly repairs. The only bikes he had to sell were brand new cheapo bikes. All others were in for repair.

  • Unless he's nicking parts to order to repair other bikes.... which would actually be a pretty smart move. No re-selling parts, stealing to order - very little risk.

    Oh and +1 for pitlocks.
